Re: Who's boating, what and where, this Memorial Day weekend??

me and the 'ol lady are gonna give it a go this weekend i guess.
she's got the weekend off, which is unusual. gonna have to take advantage of it.

i expect a cluster + heavy leo's. had us a couple of lit teenagers in a speedboat take out a 25' sailboat a few weekends ago at dusk. idiots.

were gonna do our old reg. routine with luck. go out mid afternoon and stay out till midnight round abouts. then go temp slip it for a nights sleep on board. the next morning we have breakfast on the ramp at the van. then off for a hopefully quite morning cruise. as soon as the people start arriving at the lake the next day, probalby around 1 pm. we'll split...

forecast is low 90's and breezy. gust's to 30mph, low 70's overnight and still breezy. next day 40% chance of storms in the day, 60% at night. hopefully i'll leave before the storms...

We will be avoiding all the amateurs. My Dad lives out at the Butler Chain of lakes in Windemere FL, so we will be boating there on Sunday, and spending the rest of the weekend around the pool drinking beer in the comfort of our own surroundings.

I stay at home on holiday weekends. Just too much stuff to have a good time. Even back when boating was a couple of times a week event, we tried to go after work before dark during the week. Water was less agitated and crowded and we just had more fun when doing the family outing/water sports thing.

Now for fishing, that was usually a Saturday morning event, but not on a HD weekend, and that was back when fishermen had some courtesy for each other. Seems that the advent of the bass boat changed all that and you could be in a nice quiet cove working your way around for a nice bass and here would come this big fancy BB motoring in, right past you all the way to the back of the cove then hole shot and blast past you wondering why you don't return the "hi" gesture.......oh and on that note, the PWC......worse!!!!!

Looking like this tropical depression in the gulf might mess up our Memorial Day boating. What had been a 10% & 20% chance of rain on Sunday & Monday has now turned into 60% both days. Should just be thankful for the rain I guess.

Will most likely stay off the water this weekend unless we get out very early Sunday morning while there is still a "No Wake" on the lake. Otherwise it's just too nuts around here.

Conference to attend all weekend ... too many crazies on the water so I will make it one less and stay indoors this weekend.

We've had the boat out at least 10 times this year. We decided to head to the lake yesterday instead of this weekend. I just want to avoid all the ding dongs that are going to be there. So glad we went yesterday, the water was glass and maybe only 10 other boats. Calling for temps in the mid 90's and winds gusting 30-35 mph. The only thing I'd like to do is grab a comfy chair and a cooler and head down to the ramp and get some free entertainment.

We will be out on the Ohio River near Cincinnati all three days. We'll most likely beach up by Riverbend or Meldahl dam to keep out of the traffic and spend all day drinking beers. Can't beat it!

Greenbush Michigan- On lake Huron, it will be too cold for swimming, but the perch are biting and the beach needs walking too. Enjoy the time away everyone.

Taking out the new to us... old to everyone else Bayliner this holiday in the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. I will have the wife a two year old boy and a nine year old lab with me to watch the action. We live about a mile from the dowtown ramp so we can always head home if needed. Everyone be safe and have a great holiday.

Leaving shortly for a mini-excursion from Tacoma through the Ballard Locks since the kids will enjoy it and it's supposed to be only decent day this weekend. Spending the rest of the weekend fishing ling cod with the boy.
