Re: Whay Are You A Boater?

My dad and I fished from a 14 foot tinnie. I did not do much fishing while I was in college. Got married and my FIL got me back into fishing. So I inhearted that old beat down tinnie and when back on the water. after three years of fishing from my now customized boat, I wanted something bigger. Told the wife "I want a bigger boat" she said well take your cheap tail down there and buy one (dealer). So I looked and looked to finally find a 15 foot champion bass boat with a merc 115 on the back.

First time she went for a ride she was hooked too.

we are still debating on a name either "Got Hooked" or Wet Mistress " <---her suggestion, not mine.

Re: Whay Are You A Boater?

There are two reasons I boat.
1. I like to fish and I can't swim fast enough to troll
2. My wife gets sea sick even looking at a boat. I sure do miss her :p:p

I live and die for a two, three week fishing seasons. The first is in early Spring, the second is in early winter. The weather at these times of the year are not the best to begin with and can be unpredictabile.

I bought a bigger boat becouse I was tired of getting the tar beat out of me on a regular basis

Soooo, the real question would be, how could you not be a boater?

Grew up on LI Sound. Couldn't have a car, but by 12 years old, I had an old pram and an old Johnson 5 hp. Never looked back. That is until I discovered beer, girls and Harley's.........but that's a different story. LOL.

On the water is the only place I feel truly 'free' I guess. Away from "it all". Whether slinging someone around in a tube, or just cruising down the river on perfect glass...watching nature go by...I am at peace.

Man...that just made me hate this friggin place THAT much MORE!

I Agree.

For me, I grew up around boats. It was a life style. I just replaced my last one because I missed the "anytime vacation" feelIng

This would be a good question for the boating forum area.

Like some others, I was just practically born that way and never left it. It was a way of life for us. I love the feeling of freedom to go anywhere you want on the water, explore where you want and get there any way you want, just gliding over the surface.

That's me on the left for my first boat ride:

Thanks, Dad.

"MONEY!"

Charter fishing and jigging commercial fishing and then pleasure. Why would you want something that you just keep throwing money into without a return?

Held a gun to my head and said 'buy it or else'. Got out to the lake, held same gun to head and said 'love it or else'. That was in about '98, I've only stuck with it 'cause I'm not willing to take any chances. Yeah, afraid for my life ... thats the ticket.

I bought a boat thinking no one would want to go out on the lake and get seasick while I fished and drank beer and I could get some peace and quiet from the daily whirlwind of life :D....

Boy was I wrong:facepalm:

Re: Whay Are You A Boater?

My Grandfather had a beautiful place on Lake LBJ in Central Texas and my greatest childhood memories are times spent on the water with him. He is gone now, but every time I am on the water I think of it as a little tribute to him and times gone by. Out on the water I get a feeling of freedom that I get nowhere else; a place to be out of touch and away from the bs of daily life.
