You so totally beat me to that one CJY....

We are hardwired to be competative, but not for survival. Thats a different animal all together. We are competative because that is necessary for the propagation of the species, IE, gettin' wit da Ladies. Fast cars, big wallet, longer mullet, loud car stereo, big McMansion, its all peacock feathers for humans. So yes, we are hardwired from birth to be better than the other guy so we can pass on our genetic traits....

If we are talking about competitiveness being hard-wired in, I wonder why they have to be starving before they would fight over it.

True competition is two men fighting over a grain of sand while standing in the middle of a desert. You missed the mark, Eric.

I find it interesting though, that you used science rather than the Bible to support your argument on God hard-wiring competitiveness into humans. Sounds like you may be on the wrong side of the fence. 0 for 3.

Not if you believe, like I do, that God created man in is own image. Then it 3-0 for me.

Hmmmmm . . . well first, I thought the onion was always satirical, I don't know as I don't frequent it . . . second, my concern about the satire thing is that I would rewrite that statement with these few small changes and it would represent pretty much my beliefs on the matter, blue is new, red is gone:

I honestly believe this is why we love the HOTD thread. The thing I can't figure out is why most of us like big boobs. It seems that big ones would slow my mate down if she was running from a saber tooth tiger, or Clinton for that matter . . .

After the boobs, the only thing left to figure out is who/what God is . . . priorities . . .

I believe I know what Boomer meant with his use of "lowest common denominator" (LCD (no, not a TV)). If the LCD is, oh lets say, a single cell then we can have no tests, no standards, no jobs that a single cell could not, pass, meet or fill. Please enlighten us as to the meaning you intended. Examples would be helpful.
