In light of recent <A href="http://forums.iboats.com/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewthread;fid=1;gtid=1160968"target="_blank">discussion</A>, now you can just get it all out and we can all move past this issue...

Please replace the word "we" with "I" in your post. You don't speak for me! I don't own a PWC and have no gripe with them as long as they are operated responsibly. Unfortuanately I see as many irresponsible boat operators as PWC operators. The snowmobile and ATV markets have similar disputes. Everyone has a recreation niche and many think they have a lock on it.

It's because we own the lake and the water and everything in it and around it and they are just trespassing and should all be destroyed along with their owners, operators, vendors and manufacturers world without end amen.

I don't hate them! I enjoy riding them when I get the chance. I do not like the idiots on them that are out in the middle of a busy lake doing spins. Unfornately there are more people using them iresponsibly than not! I agree with silvertip, there are also alot of boat operators that are just the same.

Middle of the lake doing spins??

NO, they insist on coming over to the quiet cove in front of my beach. Their waves erode my natural shoreline and pound my boat against the pier bumpers.
A POX on all of their houses!

Not THIS tired old topic......pleeeeease.

I own both, the PWC much longer. PWC is lots of fun, but too dangerous on a busy lake. Many boat owners DO feel they own the water. Many PWC riders are dumb punks. THAT is why there is trouble between them.

Oh, and most boat owners forgot how to HAVE REAL FUN many years ago. Putt,putt,putt...cruising at 20 mph or sitting sipping their martini. j/k ...trying to stir up some debate just for fun.

and what happens when a nice cruiser comes along at 25/30? same thing right?
And why not do spins and stunts in the middle.......cuz thats where traffic is... who wants to get smacked by a boat while doing tricks. not me, ive already been smacked by a boat. not fun...
sorry to say, not to be rude, but thats not your cove. if thats the calm area and the safer area, why not, would u rather see a guy doing stunts out where its choppy and get ran over? if u dont like waves crashing against your boat, get a lift for it... ure on WATER.! waves happen... do u complain when there is a huge storm? do u say. that damn storm, why couldnt u go 30 miles north and rain on that lake?

Hmmmmm. I don't hate PWCs. I feel the same about them as I do about bazillion watt car sound systems, dirt bikes, off road vehicles and bassrockets.

They are not offensive in themselves. It is the way some people use them that offends me. So it is behavior that is indifferent to the comfort and safety of others that I hate.

And this is why I don't care for PWC and many, not all, of the people that operate them. No respect on the water and rediculous logic...............Sorry if that offends you...

Re: Why We Hate PWCs...

Since I have been criticized, here are my objections.

1. I am headed into a small cove at idle, fishing rods ablazing, in sight, and the objective is obvious. Here comes a couple of pukes blasting past me, do a couple of wheelies and with the accompanying (smartass) grin, they depart the area just to blast off and .......up the fishing for someone else.

2. Out in the lake trying to fish surfacing fish; in Texas it happens to be Sand Bass and most Texans are aware of their habits and existance.....Here comes another mentally deranged puke or two, blasting right past you, right through the school (what was the school) of fish, do a wheelie past you, big grin and away they go.

Now, it's illegal to kill someone, but the temptation is enormous. Glad I don't carry a M-16 on board......but I do have some nasty hooks. 8)

Predujiced, Naw,

Re: Why We Hate PWCs...

PWC operators are typically kids, and kids are gonna be kids. They generally lack the respect, tolerance, and courtesy that most of us acquire as we mature. At 48 years of age I find myself a much more considerate and tolerant person than I was at 18. Part of the reason why is that I was one of those rotton kids. The most exciting thing that you could do was to **** off an adult when you knew that they had no recourse. I feel bad about some of the crap I pulled as a kid, but I reason that, (within limits), it's part of a normal cycle.

"my cove".....typical fisherman/old-man-boater.

Here's the deal, go fishing at sunrise when the FUN people are still asleep from partying the night before! Or, find a stream or tiny lake where power boats are not allowed. Leave the real water to us PWC guys!!!!!

Now, when I'M in my BOAT, keep those no-job, losers on the PWC away from me!!!!!!!!!

Re: Why We Hate PWCs...

Judged by the company you keep.

I don't "hate" PWC, and actually I sort of want one myself. I dislike the discourteous people who decide to use them or a huge wake board boat within 100 ft of my boat. There are rules to how close you can come and at what speeds........(and to how close you can get to shore) .Its annoying and dangerous when that is ignored. With heavy marine traffic, disputes are a given. Fact of the matter is when you are out fishing and there is plenty of open water and a PWC comes close to you at WOT, its a real disrespect.
