Anyone aware of any issues? The last time I downloaded a big update none of my scanners worked. Took me three hours, on tech lines, to get them working again.

Would just as soon avoid similar issues.

Re: Win XP Service Pack 3

I've been slowly rolling it out at work via our Windows Update Server. I started with my workstation first. No issues. Then the 7 stations in my office. No issues so far. I'm going to let it ride for a few weeks before I push it out to any other departments.

No problems (so far) although the net is a little slower today, probably not A SP3 issue though.

I've tried to install SP3 4 times and it failed all 4 times. The first 3 time I got the access denied error. The last time I came back and found the message did not install correctly may not work.

Getting very frustrated at this point.

Hmmm? Hearing this I went to 'add/remove programs' to confirm that my download (of SP3) and installation were duly recorded there. No go, the only thing that shows up is SP2.

After my question here, I went ahead and downloaded it. Then per instructions I hit the install button. A day later I see the little yellow shield and it wants to download SP3 again. I scratched my head and hit download. So far I have not been asked to install that download.

Something is fishy here!

Glad to hear sp3 doesnt have any major issues. Last night I installed sp2 on another computer here, it froze on installation, then wouldnt boot up (ntfs error), reinstalled xp, still wouldnt boot.
So tomorrow when I format my computer and loose everything I have Ill try again hehehe. Gotta luv winders, if it werent for some programs I use Id be runnin Linux. I remeber a time before computers for me..... I used to fish alot more. :D

If my puter is running fine i don't update anything.

Why fix something that isn't broken.

Last time i updated something i hated it right from the start. Couldn't go back.

Last puter i built was 10 years ago. Did one "f" disk on it and reinstalled all my old programs again. still running great, just a bit slow. This puter has xp with service pack 2. I see no need to try to upgrade. Newer isn't always better.

Hmmm, SP3 finally downloaded and installed on the second try. It seems my computer boots quicker now. For some time it just kind of hung while finishing the last of the boot. Now it gets right to it, lickety split!:)
