Hello,

I bought my boat, from a dealer this summer, and i was very happy with the service...

Where i currently live, i cannot really work on my boat, or winterize it.. I talked to the dealer and they said a full winterize package would be, about $200... Engine oil/filter. Remove drive, check gimbal, u joints and change lower unit oil... Fuel filter change, check alignment and grease everything. But they dont add any anti-freeze to the motor, they just drain the valves....

They do guarantee there work, and have been doing it this way, for 20 plus years... and they are a mercury dealer.

They are also giving me free storage of the boat for the first winter because i bought it.

Question is (just to ease my nerves because this is my first winter with an I/O) is that type winterizing (just draining the plugs) good enough for winter.

If the question is about storing it dry... then its fine.
No water= no freeze.

As for the storage, thats a good dealer. with i had that.

I am pretty happy with them as a dealer... ( only 10 minutes from house to)...

I agree No water, No freeze...

I guess i just read everything about people who bash not adding anti-freeze, and how it is bad practice....

Absolutely it's a good thing. AIR doesn't freeze, and antifreeze polutes everything. So why use it.
Marine dealers could actually get fined for spilling antifreeze everywhere if they put it in someones engine and it leaks out the drive while a customer takes it home, or next year when they start the engine in the nice clean freshwater lake. Or down the storm drains, or ......................
