:confused::facepalm: I just was wondering from all I?ve read here not one person has mentioned flushing your I/O or inboards, and outboards motors with any salt cutting chemicals. I for years run my motor in a drum of fresh water for a while and that?s typically it. Next I turn carburetor gas/valve OFF and let the engine die. Lately though I have noticed less water coming out my motors ?pee? hole. I change my impeller every year even if it looks good.. to me its worth it. So here?s the 10 million dollar question! There?s a chemical treatment call SX50 for flushing out motors from salt usage.. Does anyone have any experiences with this product or can anyone suggest one that will clean out the engine channels from years of build-up??
Best Regards, StarGazerI

First of all, you need patience, StarGazer. We generally don't answer questions to which we have no answer.

I never heard of that stuff and even wonder if you are trying to spam us.

Fresh Water cuts salt pretty well. Not sure why you would need a chemical.

Thanks Mark, Im not sure ether.. I was wondering too what other people do! Is this the only flush chemical? I found this online or is it a joke..LOL I want to belive but, I can't hardly belive that fresh water alone will desolve dried salts through out your system. So I went online and found only one product named SX50.. What Im hopeing for is someone with another idea or opions.. Thanks

Best Regards StarGazerI

I don't live near salt water so....I don't really have any first hand experience except when I was in my teens. My uncle lived in Florida and when we went fishing on the Banana River....he just rinsed the boat with a garden hose and ran the engine on muffs after every trip. I don't see any benefit to using a chemical to eliminate salt which is easily flushed out with a hose. As far as the tell-tale not flowing as much, you might post that specific question in a new thread. Guessing it might just need cleaned out. Could just be debris in the line.

Re: Winterizing Your Boat Motor's

Thanks Mark, I do have a friend that owns a boat store and will run some tests on this stuff to see if it achives what we all want. I have always flushed my motors with a barrel of fresh water. It seems to work too but, the last time the shop guy took the head off WOW there was alot of salt/corrosion there..and I flush for 5-10 min. each time I used the motor. What I find interesting is the claim can be used with saltwater too. I wonder if this stuff SX50 is like CLR cleaner..LOL Best Regards StarGazerI

Reading the info, I doubt it's like CLR....the SX50 is non-toxic...CLR has acid in it among other things like glycol (solvent)....I'm just always skeptical of the miracle potion....it's the engineer in me.

Re: Winterizing Your Boat Motor's

Ya I here ya there!! LOL Thats why Im going to look into it and take the engineering viewpoint..lol I would like to leave my motor on the boat for the summer and not take it off just to clean it. If this does what it reports to do then I could rig up an flush line befor leaving it for a week or so. My friend has a motor thats in need of a flush so this will be the asid test for me. They claim you can even use saltwater and add SX50 and flush it. Im praying it realy does what they say. LOL Will see as they say!

Mark! Let find out about this product, for real or not. My first thought was the dont have a phone number to contact them..Hummmm! Not good! but thought I would drop them a note for my test.

Hello! I have some questions about your product and need answers! So, please contact me at your earliest time.
Robin Tjader, Lechnir
Email : usadco@comcast.net
My plan is to put your product and claims to the test. We all know (Word of mouth) is your best advertisement. After an exhaustive hunt for a user of your product, I?m just not finding one company or user. Excuse me for being skeptical here but, a lot of products make claims that will ?move mountains? That said, I will be a spokesman and my findings spread to boaters and marinas in throughout the USA.
I am the former CEO/ICON and wrote/published the book on validation used for process and product validation for the regulated industries and do completely understand all forms of testing including systems, product, and engineering for FDA and Federal regulated industries not to exclude complete validations.
My history with such company's lists below:
NASA, Johnson & Johnson, Lawrence Livermore, Steris Labs, GE, ABB, Ethicon and the list goes on..

Lets see what they do! If I dont here from them.. Then we know... Best regards StarGazerI

Probably same product as Salt Away, a matter to tear in pieces an engine and check all water passages conditions to see if their products performs as stated, other than that you could add some vinegar which has only max 5% acidity on tank to flush with, vinegar disolves salt formations, will doubt about crusts unless you ran it pure :D

Happy Boating
