I recently purchased a two stroke 2002 25 horse Johnson motor electric start long shaft. I have no idea where the wires get hooked up under the cowling I found one plug in from the harness that comes back and there's a purple wire and a gray wire that appears to get hooked up to something but I can't locate anyting to hook it up to can somebody please help or is the 1 plug in is all I have to do. I am waiting on a key from previous owner to try 2 start.

Purple would be 12V when key is turned ON, and the Gray would be the tachometer

I could not get logged in so I changer my my name to skip 44820 instead of gunpowder44820 but I am same guy with same problem
Pictured below are the 2 wires I question , they come in the harness that wraps around the inside of the engine, there appears to be only 1 plug in. Once I plug in the only plug in that fits there 2 wires lay at a location determined by the length on the wires and I c no place for them 2 hook up. Never got the key so I had to order new switch. The 2 wires are purple and lite gray., the black wire has been clipped off. They both have a fitting on the end where a small screw would go thru

Grey tachometer wire customarily goes with the yellow/grey stripe wires on the terminal strip. Black would be grounded. Not sure where the purple connects on this model. Book says solenoid (?????)
