Re: Wizard 7.5 outboard

So what is the serial number???

Dirt bikes, four wheelers and trucks run in the dirt. There isn't much dust flying around on the lake, so outboards don't have air filters.

Serial Number is 64700710-4046
Model Number is MLM-6909B

It has says on the top of the engine near the pull cord McCulloch Corp./Scott Division
I didnt really think about that on the airfilter.

Welcome to the iboats.com forum! The members here are great and the experts like F_R can help you with any problem with that great old motor. Your model number & serial number indicate that is a McCulloch/Scott made for Western Auto's private brand, Wizard.

Here's a link to some non-factory service info: http://forums.iboats.com/boat-topic...nline-service-info-not-just-boats-393281.html

LOGIN as directed in the thread, then drill down to: Small Engines, Marine/Boat Motors, McCulloch and, finally, 7 1/2HP.

Maybe some info found there will help you get that beauty running. Good luck!

That is a 1964. The compact 7.5 was a motor to love or to hate. I worked on enough of them to form an opinion. I do have a service manual if there is anything specific you want me to look up.

I'm fairly new to the internet, managed to stumble into this forum while searching for info on this motor. I have a 1961 version of this motor branded "Elgin". It was my dad's, and getting it up and running again is a labor of love. Thanks for the link to service info! It has helped me to get a good start on this project. Mine has a Marvel-Schebler SUM-13 carb that the mud daubers have set up housekeeping in. Is there any place you know of to buy a carb kit for it?

Probably not, but try Laing's Outboards | Home

(Ahem, I have an even stronger opinion about that one)

EDIT: Are you sure it is a 1961? I thought they still had the Tillotson carb. But could be mistaken, I suppose.

Powerhead is stamped 61300710. 61 is the year, right????? Sent an email to Laings about the parts. Are Tillotson carbs and parts more readily available? If so and they are interchangeable, it might be a better way to go than rebuilding the M-S???

Re: Wizard 7.5 outboard

Tillotson carburetors are a whole different critter than the Marvel Schebler.. The numbers off the carb that you gave would indicate it is the MS.

That is not a Wizard model number. See this page-- mcculloch wizard outboard model page
