Re: Worst day of the year!

I'm keeping mine at the slip until October 31st. It won't be long until I feel your pain.

Here we usually don't get below freezing until late November or early December.
And you're in Canada? I'm trying to think of a northern U.S. state that can go that late without a freeze.

I pulled the MO boat this morning and she'll be winterized and put away this week. Time to repower the TX boat for the Fall season.

Buddy your only about 50 miles from me. Don't give up too quick. We should still have some nice days ahead. We have a big weekend planed at lake of the Ozarks Oct. 2 - 4th at the Ft. Leonard Wood Rec area. I think were gonna get us a toon and cruise and fish from McCubbins pt. to Horseshoe bend and back.

Wow, I never heard of this thing you call winterizing. Does it have something to do with that winter thing where it gets cold, I have heard about from friends? I guess that's just one more reason I love FL.

I'm out of water for the lift, so I can't use my slip anymore, until the lift is pulled tomorrow. I need to get back to Texas by the 12th or I would probably stay till Thanksgiving.

Oh, and there's the whole "I haven't seen my my wife in over two months thing".

Winterizing is a sad time of the year, though.

Yep. Vancouver BC, home of the 2010 Olympic games where we had rain instead of snow in February!

Outboards don't freeze. Mine don't get fogged down for the winter till there's ice on the lake. The LU get's a lube sample pulled before first hard freeze.

My wife and I just spent 4 days camping and fishing near Brainerd, first on the Whitefish chain, then on Gull lake. Ate fish till we got full, and caught and released a limit of bass today just for kicks.

We missed most of the summer because the camping van broke a spring mount. (durned MN road salt). It won't be driven in winter again, and we'll open up the season with it next year.

We just got home. We'll probably go fishing tomorrow evening.

Thanks DJ! I'll be in Central Texas in a week or so. Once the SeaRay is repowered, I'll be there, too.

Now that I trailer my boat in Massachusetts (instead of it living in a lake in NH), I can pretty much wait until the first snow fall before I pack my boat away :-D I doubt I'll go that long but who knooows.

This is just around the corner in my neck of the woods. Bought it for my 14 year old daughter last nite. She's always been a passenger. Told her, "it's time to step it up a notch"........

Always remember, however, that one man's "Worst day" is another's man's "Best day". If it makes you feel any better, you can take solace in
knowing that in the Tampa Bay, FL area, the season is just now beginning.

Don't worry, I'm going to do my very best to make sure I utilize my boats as
often as I can in order to make up for all you poor, lost souls who live north
of the "freeze line".

Hey, it's been too hot to go out for the past 3 months, whattya want?:D

Well said.

I Could go out in the summer but risking heat stroke and severe sunburn-NO THANKS.

I have been out this summer, early mornings (before 5:00 AM-out by 8:00). I find it hilarious to watch the midwest transplants following the calendar, not the weather report.

They come in: exhausted, dehydrated and generally in foul moods. They'll either sell or learn.;)

Or, look at it another way. Your boat didn't sink today... any way your boat isn't underwater is a good day :D

That is my point too- for the next 6-7 month I won't get stuck in a middle of the lake with storm coming, I won't hit any sandbars/rocks and wreck my prop/outdrive, my motor will not be hydrolocked, I wo't have any water in the oil other than condensation (I already made sure that it won't crack also). I don't have to spend money on gas, I don't have to go to marina every weekend because it is paid for. What else won't happen....
