"I am a Sioux Falls resident and want to rent a boat for the 4th of July to take out to one of the surrounding lakes during the day. If you or someone you know would be willing to rent a boat for the day, let me know. It would not be used for skiing or tubbing, just something for us to float in, anchor and fish. But I'm not looking for a small fishing boat. I'd like something that has a little more room in it for lounging.

Please drop me a line and how much you would want for rent. I have full coverage and a clean driving record and references.

I had this talk with a friend that asked if he could rent mine. I said sure,... There will be a cash deposit of $30k + $500 per day. Must be returned clean and with a full tank...

well, maybe I would at this rate.....haha.

Not only NO, but HELL NO! I've never let anyone else even drive. I'm way too particular about the condition of my toys and if someone else were to ding my boat, I'd do them some serious bodily harm and I'm just not prepared to go to prison.

That's about how I feel. I rarely let anyone else drive it when I am on the boat and in deep water.

I've seen how they drive cars on the road.......... can you imagine that in a boat, the equivalent clipping a curb in a boat means hull damage and a ripped off lower end.

Yeah I said no too. Now if someone would actually fork over a hunk of money I mite reconsider. But i still think only SELECT family and frenz would be allowed to use it. But I'd be nervous regardless if I wasn't along. Nope. Scrap it. My dad is prolly the only one I'd let have it without me. Not like my boat will be worth a ton in book value but I put too much time in it to have some clueless individual ruin it.

My friends, neighbors, and relatives are welcome to any of my posessions with the absolute exception of three:

1. My lady
2. My motorcycle
3. My boat

. . .and I do mean ABSOLUTE. And my boat is certainly nothing fancy! I can't even imagine what you folks with beautiful 26' Christ Craft rigs have to say about it!

Hey man thats great! Glad to see your not willing to rent your wife either! Some guys comments you read some places sound like they might be glad to rent her out for awhil.

Ok, so I have been considering this option also.

I have my eyes on a secondary boat that just sits most of the time (neighbor wants to sell it for $300.) a 1969 Seaswirl, closed bow with a 45 hp Johnson on it. 2 back-to-back seats, original Turquoise color! Definitely nothing fancy, but a good fishing boat for sure.

Thinking of cleaning it up and renting.......

I see a lot of ads on Craigslist from people that want to "rent" a boat for a weekend. I can not imagine a boat owner doing this but I guess it must happen because I still see the ads.

Would you even consider renting your boat to a stranger?

NEVER.

I loaned my boat to my brother (who I thought would be ok with it) and his wife for a day and I ended up driving out to the boat ramp at 11:30 PM to get the I/O up. . He must have SLAMMED that thing hard when he put it down cause I've never had a problem. He drug the I/O on the ramp for about a hundred feet before he stopped. Still giving him chit about that one.

The only way that could possibly work is if you take a sizable security deposit for it. Several hundred. So if they bring it back and the prop is busted and has lower end damage, you have some $ to fix it. I rented a jet ski the other week from a guy that rents stuff out as a sideline job. The jet ski was $125 a day plus a $400 security deposit. Thankfully we didn't need to use any of that.
