Wouldn’t Turn Over

Lowe’s,Johnson 40 electric start 2001 key start has four lights all light up and only oil light stays on will not turn over? Reason Why.

OK, one more time around. The motor must be in neutral to start. While turning the key to start (turn and hold there), rock the gearshift back and forth and see if the motor cranks. If successful, remember that spot when starting next time (neutral detent).

yeah, a number of folks with time invested in your posts, so help the next guy (and responders). What was the fix?

And in your own interest, there may be more to your issue than appears on the face of it.

Not sure about the neutral safety switch on yours. Could make it tough to get home from your fishing spot.
