Have a newer digital tach multifunction gauge with single 4-pin connector. Using a 2006 F50TLR 4-stroke. Trying to use older trim/oil harness that has 4 pin male & female plug on each end to connect tach & motor. Color of wires: orange, black, pink & gray.
The tach & hour meters work great. The trim display on right side of meter shows all black bars with top bar flashing. I have checked the trim sender and it is not broken & appears to be functioning correctly. If I move it by hand (with engine fully up) the trim bars do not change. I have the number 1 dip switch set to the up position (for a 2-wire trim). Is this correct for my engine? The other dip switches are set at 12 pole (down) and 4-stroke (up).
In my searches I have read that my trim sender may need to be grounded? Is this possible and if so how could I accomplish this? I have also read that I may have a short or open wire in my harness.
Can anyone help? I would be happy to trace the 4 wire harness colors to be certain the correct wires are running to the correct pins. The colors at my meter are pink (pin 1), gray (pin 2), green/white (pin 3), green/red (pin 4). The off white connector on my engine has mostly all pink wires connected to it. Can anyone give me the specific color wires (and corresponding pin #'s) for this connector?
Thank you for any & all suggestions......
