Really? Do you have statistics to back that up? There are a lot of people being shot these days. Are they all innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire?
I am curious. How many criminals are shot by average "armed citizens" (excluding LEO's, of course).

The only thing I know for sure is the places that you all live that you feel you need to carry are places I don't want to go.

Beer, PW?
I wanna be a Rambo. :)
A drunk Rambo, waving two six-shooters around with reckless abandon. "Yeehaw, Bang, and all that rot" :)

We get buy with a couple of really good German pellet rifles as you can plunk targets and varmints without any Bs with in town limits

Seriously I have a BFK (BIG F??? KNIFE) right buy my bed as I am sure shooting anybody in my house would probably go through my wall and into my neighbor’s house

NY has such a reputation as a dangerous place to live but the places I thought were safe in other parts of the USA seem to need a gun at all times just to walk around

The scariest thing around here is a special patrol of 4 LEO’S at night as they keep pumping 40 rounds into unarmed people ,one guy fires a round and then they all dump a 15 round clip at least 2 times a year into somebody in the wrong place at the wrong time

This only seems to happen in NYC BUT it happens a LOT

JB, I said ignorant, because the facts bekosh quoted are true, If someone doesn't know or accept the facts... not stupid, but.... It's not an insult, just not knowing the facts.

Facts? For the sake of argument, bekosh didn't quote any facts, he quoted studies. And even the studies can't agree on the numbers. Those aren't facts, not even close.

So, pw2's sheltered opinion is: any law-abiding, concealed weapon carrier is a wanna-be Rambo. That is an ignorant statement, totally ignoring the data, and the facts.

A correction needed...you totally ignored what he said!

Perhaps I have led a sheltered life, but I don't think I've ever been in a situation where I felt being armed would be an advantage quote]

And you are quite predictable and amusing as well. You can always be relied on to attack the messenger while ignoring the message. What a hoot.

PW2 said nothing of the kind, Coors. Seems to me kinda ignorant to say so.

PW2, what you may overlook is that many of we well armed citizens keep guns for good reasons that do not involve people. It is a side benefit that those who know we are armed avoid molesting us or ours.

Others, of course, are armed to discourage baddies. It is an effective tactic. Shootings by armed citizens are only a tiny fraction of crimes that never happen because the citizen is armed.

How many convenience stores that have a sign on the door, "Armed guard on duty" have you heard of getting robbed?

JB, I have no problem with "well armed citizens" I also own a shotgun for birds, and several .22's for plinking. While they are locked away, with the ammunition in a separate location, a criminal would have to give me a couple of minutes (at least) warning before I could spring into action. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

I lived for years under the Canadian system that basically says you are responsible for firearms you own. Keep them securely locked away, as if your firearms are involved in criminal activity, you, along with the perpetrator, are culpable.

Canada has as many firearms as the US (or close) they have only a tiny fraction of the gun crime (per capita, of course)

When I finally received my CCW permit (6months after I first applied) from a Master NRA trainer, only 3 of these guys in the entire country. I had to set down with the sheriff on 3 different occasions and when it was done, he said alright I will get this to the news paper. I said news paper? He said I advertise every new CCW, that way if you had any enemies before, they will think twice before they mess with you again!!! Everyone would be courteous to everyone, if they thought they were carrying too.

NO WAY am I to blame for an armed robber entering my house to harm me. If it is me or him, It will be him that meets the Big Judge in the sky. This is the USA. I have the right to defend myself. Bad guys have no right to hurt me. I am not to blame for a bad guy's misjudgment.

The only thing missing is the blood stained bullet hole in the front of it.

That strikes me as a hateful statement, very threat-like...meanie (lib).

Don't move to MD - here the intruder has all the rights. You need to make a helluva case to keep out of the slammer (which is why I keep a throwdown piece).

Tough to pull a trigger when you have mittens on 10 months a year :p
