Re: Yes it's true my engine is still not aligned.

When I filled my drive from the top vent hole, I also had oil leak from around the speedo take-off connector. I then filled from the bottom and thought everything was great (No leak). I had my outdrive leak tested and found the seal around the gear selector shaft was leaking. When you fill from the bottom the oil does not get high enough to leak from that seal!! If you fill from the top, it runs over the seal as it fills the top of the drive whilst the oil tries to make it's way to the bottom of the drive. Your symptoms match exactly what I had, so I would suspect you have a bad seal on the shift shaft (very near the speedo connector). If you can I would strongly recomend you perform a leak test on the drive before you go onto the lake. Water inside the drive will not do anything any good..

Thanks,, I will definately do a pressure check on it before sucking in some salt water. I saw a post about some home made pressure rigs,,, need to find it and make myself one.. Thanks.. One thing I did do was since the reservoir was completely drained (on the floor) I pulled the top vent plug and filled the reservoir (after properly servicing it from the bottom), I let it slowly drain out the vent drain plug until the reservoir level was down to the full line.. I still don't have a single drop on the floor, only fluid is what leaked out the vent hole. Strange.. But I will do that pressure check.. THanks again..

But the drive is a closed system, nothing should be able to come out of it.. So if oil is coming out, you MUST have a leak, so we just need to find where before you get water going in!! especially salt water..
