Re: Yes it's true my engine is still not aligned.
When I filled my drive from the top vent hole, I also had oil leak from around the speedo take-off connector. I then filled from the bottom and thought everything was great (No leak). I had my outdrive leak tested and found the seal around the gear selector shaft was leaking. When you fill from the bottom the oil does not get high enough to leak from that seal!! If you fill from the top, it runs over the seal as it fills the top of the drive whilst the oil tries to make it's way to the bottom of the drive. Your symptoms match exactly what I had, so I would suspect you have a bad seal on the shift shaft (very near the speedo connector). If you can I would strongly recomend you perform a leak test on the drive before you go onto the lake. Water inside the drive will not do anything any good..
