My belly tank was sitting two pieces of plywood that where glassed to the hull held in with foam. I know I know that fuel tanks should not be held with foam.
So I was thinking of ways to to allow air to around the tank and help water get to the bilge area so here is what I am planning on doing unless someone shoots the idea down
I still plan putting glassed plywood down first to help spread the load on the hull, but between the plywood and the tank I would fit pieces of fuel tubing filled with resin to create a solid cylinders as the spacers, these should not rot. They even could be made so that each spacer could be shaped to come up the sides of the tank and act as side spacers too.
Your thoughts iboats please.......
