Sometimes God answeres prayers that we don't even know we need to pray. Sometimes he provides things that we don't know at the time we desperatly need, or will need soon.

Several weeks ago my sweet little wife and I were out driving and we saw a tiny little puppy running like stink down the side of the road. He was a little chahuahua, with the same color coat as our Rottwielers at home. We stopped and picked the little fella up. He was exhausted and thirsty.

We brought him home and set about finding his home. We checked lost and found ads, looked for "lost puppy" signs in the area where we found him, checked with all the local vets. Nothing turned up. We had promoised ourselves that we would never have another male dog. We had promised ourselves that we would never have one of those little "Rottwieler snack" sized dogs that look rediculous in thier little sweaters.

The littel dog was only about 2 months old and could fit in the palm of my hand, yet he had the biggest personality. As time passed we fell in love with the little guy and named him Mr Bigglesworth after we figured finding his home was not going to happen.

Then one day about three weeks ago our special little handy capable girl Sugar Puppy (our 2 year old Rotty) got up from her food dish and crashed to the floor dead. I administered CPR to her, but it was no use. She was gone. She had slept every night with my wife. She spent every second at my wifes feet. They were closer than I have seen any person/dog relationship. Dee was crushed, and still cries some times when she looks at pictures of Sugar Puppy, but there was Mr. Bigglesworth. He immediatly stayed glued to Dee after Sugar passed, and gave so much comfort to her. He couldn't cure her pain, but he eased it, carying as much of the burden as could on his little back.

After Sugar passed our oldest Rotty, Boo Boo stopped eating. Then the seizures started. In a space of 4 weeks and several visits to the vet she sped downhill fast. Fianlly, last week I took her to the vet and the decision was made that she had fought the good fight, and for her comfort and dignity we would give her rest, and we put her down. Boo Boo was my special little girl. She was so good. Never chewed on stuff. Never had accidents in the floor. Never gave us any problem at all. She was a stoic little girl, and when she was in pain from arthritis, or an upset tummy, she never made a big fuss. When she passed I was devastated. But there was Mr. Bigglesworth. He started sitting in my lap, and climbing on me, very generously covering me with his special little kisses. What a huge help he was during that painful time.

When we found Biggles, we had no idea that such heart wrenching tragedy lay just over the horizon. But God did. When we found Biggles we had no idea that such a tiny little dog could contain such a big and powerful personality. We had no idea that his crazy little antics would be so hilarious and give us such pleasure and joy. We didn't know any of this, but God did. So before we knew that we need him, and without our knowing what he could offer, God provided Mr. Bigglesworth. Thank you Father in Heaven.

Amen Mellow. This was truley one of those "whooda thunkit?" situations. It's one of those things, which in retrospect, makes me try harder to be better....to be more like Him.

O man! I wish God would allow dogs to live nearly as lnog as people, but it's not part of his plan.
I know this is a hard thing to do, especially in this time of loss, but Soulwinner, they're taken so quickly. Mr Biglesworth will follow suit, as will all living things. And we are never ready. Thne pain never goes away, but it gets easier to deal with over time. Thank God for Mr Biglesworth (cute name BTW)! Maybee God has a place for dogs up there. And if there is such a place, maybee BooBoo and sugar Puppy are running with my old buddy, "Hosehead", the wonder dog. He passed away after a full 17year life. He loved to run. He went December 1996. You never forget them.
We now have a little red stag minpin name Bambi.
Got any pics of Mr Biglesworth?
I have pics of Bambi, but my host (that I actually paid for, not a free site), won't link any of my pics. It's all but useless. But I'll try here;
It's true that 'all dogs go to heaven'.
Know your pain all too well, SoulWinner. Put my 'baby' of 17 years down 2 years ago. Then the older cat left (probably knew he was dying) 2 weeks later. 8 months later, Elvis (my favorite cat) got sick on a Saturday night and the vet put him down Monday morning. It took a long, long time for us to get over losing 3 of our best friends.
Just a month ago I took the wife to the County Shelter. Found an 8 week old lab/mix. Only 9 lbs. and just adorable. His name is "Brutus". At 13 weeks, he's now 22 lbs and growing daily.
God gives, and God calls 'em home. I thank Him daily for what He's given me. When one door closes, another opens. Can't wait to see what He's got planned for me next!

Re: You can't "out give" God

Ryan, have ask myself that several times since then.
The answer I keep getting is that was "His" plan.

Well I know that "He" will do what "He" sees fit to, but that plan sucked.

My brother like all the other people that died because of this tragedy, did not hurt anyone, beat his wife, call people names, look down his nose at other people cause he had a better education, job etc.

He was just a man doing his job and then he was gone.

No answer will ever satisfy me as to why, it's just I have to keep on and not let their memories die for nothing.

2nd. year with out him around at Christmas time and it is still tuff to hang stockings knowing he won't be here to get his, but life does go on, so yea, keep asking yourself Ryan and maybe someday you will get the answer.

When you do, pass it on to me.
Thanks

P.S. SW, I too know how it is to loose a animal friend.
I raise rotts and do get very attached to them and when you loose one, it's almost like one of the family for sure.

Re: You can't "out give" God

SoulWinner, Thank You for your story, I'm sorry for your loss. I also may have received Gods gift through Co Co, shortly before re-living Old Yeller for the second time. Co Co is the Runt, from the same litter as Brock, that saved my wife's life before he was 14 months old. Brock was, and Co Co is a 1/2 Chocolate Lab, 1/2 Weimaraner. I received Co Co, just 2 or 3 weeks before the loss of Brock, to save her from being destroyed. I had to Destroy Brock, to save his suffering. Even though Co Co, can take the sting out of loosing Brock, even though smaller, she resembles Brock. When I look at her, I'm constantly reminded of how I had to repay Brock, for his Love, and gift of Life.
I had been though this once before with my Black Lab, Blade, but he was 15 years old, and led a full life. Brock was only 15 months old, 105 lbs, and the thief of my Heart. I'd like to believe that BrianFD is right that all dogs go to Heaven, and 12 Footer is right that our loved pets are all in a Place set aside by God, but I have not been able to find Scripture to support this thought? If you, or anyone could point out any supporting scripture, it may surely help this believer, with some Painfull Memories. I know I did the right thing, but it would help to know Brock, and Blade are in a better place.

Ryan T, I mean no hard feelings when I tell you, that God was in the same place on Sept. 11th, that he was when he sent his only SON to us as a gift, a Spotless Lamb, who walked among us, knowing that our race, would cuss him, kick him, put a crown of thorns on his head, nail him to the cross, stab him, gamble at his feet for the very robe he was wearing, and watch him die on the cross, as he pleaded to God, for him too "Fogive them, for they know not, what they do." But God knew, and even with all his power, he stood by, through all this, so that his only Son, Jesus, would carry out Gods plan, so that the sinners that we are, could see a perfect sacrafice, so that all future sinners could be forgiven. By him standing by and allowing this to happen for our good, he also showed an example of Faith, which is what he wants from us, FAITH, that he sent Jesus, for this purpose! Which was only for our benefit.

We as Sinners, believe that Death is an ending. God, and Christians know that Death is a begining. The Sinner in us, morns the loss, The Christian in us, seeks Faith, that God has a plan, and our loss, is our loved ones gain.

Ryan, I hope that someone, stronger in Faith, with more elequent knowledge of writting, or speaking, will be able to bring God into you Heart. This is the best, I can do.

SoulWinner I may have answered my own question, in a way here, but would still appreciate any scripture you might find or know of pertaining to my struggle.

Re: You can't "out give" God

Well said Soulwinner.

Sorry for your loss, and at the same time happy for what you have gained.

Ryan, good question. My belief is that we are not even worthy to question God's infinite wisdom. The reasons that many things happen are probably beyond our comprehension. If you believe in God and Heaven, then you know that those lost on 9/11 are in a much better place.

Re: You can't "out give" God

I have been unable to find scripture to support our beloved animals going to heaven, but I would like to give this as something to keep close to your heart:

Just this side of heaven is a place called "The Rainbow Bridge." When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone, that pet goes to The Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they miss someone very special to them, who had been left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green rass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friends finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together...........

I refuse to believe that our great God would allow us to feel such love to only take it away forever. In this world the Lord gives and the Lord takes away, but in the heavens there is nothing but happiness and joy. I believe that will include our beloved pets that brought us so much happiness and joy here on earth. I still cry daily for the loss of by best friend and companion Sugar Puppy. We never forget and we never should.

I close with this "....Naked came I out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

God bless you all.........Soulwinners' little wife

Re: You can't "out give" God

Ryan, the presence of Evil in this world does not translate into the absence of God. I don't think you will find anyone on this site that will deny that the perpetrators of 9/11 were anything but the manifestation of evil, cloaked in religious beliefs.

If you believe that at the end of your life, your fate is to rot in abox in the ground, what makes you any different than the hijackers. The end game is the same just a different path. Why even try to be good. Whether you mention God or not, I believe that there is something at the end of mortal life and that my actions now will influence. It would be very arrogant of me to even try to explain away the mysteries of life.

Re: You can't "out give" God

Some little kid, who didn't put up signs in the right places, is probably lamenting the God that took his puppy away!
I think attributing motives from God from everyday events is silly. All you have to do is visit the local Children's hospital to know that sometimes good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. It is called life.
My ex-wife, a born again Christain, used to drag my daughter to church with her--where she would become a spectacle where the congregation would "pray for her" for her to regain her sight. they would tell her that if her faith was strong enough, God would renew her sight. then they would tell her that it must be God's way of punishing her for something.
I don't think God had much to do with this. Stuff happens in real life.
Now that is one young girl that it would take the 7th armoured division to exhibit enough power to drag her back into a church again, however.

with human nature being what it is, we rarely
learn from success. we learn mostly from failure.
sad as that may be....
