Yesterday our good friends Ray & Tammie brought thier Floating Shade to the lake. It was a pop up shade in 4 buckets filled with expanding foam and wheel barrow tubes . they have a 8 person float in the center. It worked great for several hours until we had a storm blow suddenly in with 46+mph winds! The Houseboat had 10+ smaller boats on it's anchor that pulled free and sent us all sideways at 5mph heading for a large rock plie! Everyone scrambled aboard a boat, lucky we avoided disaster. We are all buds and called around checking on everyone. I was on the end and wife & I got aboard my boat quickly and headed off. others had to cut thier lines to break out quickly. The only loss was the floating canopy but I have an extra in the garage!

Yeah, reminds me of the song, "Redneck yacht Club". Bummer it ended so abruptly!! Looked like fun.

Could you not ad an electric trolling motor for propulsion?
It could also mix drinks in a bucket.

Jeri &Tammie setting the shade up. They slowly tow it to our spot that luckily is 500yds from the ramp. You know where they are gonna be today! Her husband brought the damaged shade back to the store the purchased it at last week and the store gave them a brand new top!
it is 13ft x13ft pop up shade floating on (4) 3 gallon plant buckets filled with expanding foam. There are 4inch PVC pipes in the center so the legs are easy to pull out. They are tied in with rope. The inner tubes are from a wheel barrow I think . They put the kids floats on for laughs.
