Your End All/Bucket List Boat?

Curious to see what people here lust after. What boat do you want to be your "end all" boat? Do you already have it? When do you plan to have it by?

I would love to have a Fountain 42 Poker Run someday, but the wife wants a cruiser, which means we'll get a cruiser. We've decided out "kids out of the house" boat we're saving for is a Formula 430 SS Crossover. Seems to be the best of all worlds for what we want at Lake of the Ozarks. Open bow, room for a ton of friends, still a cabin for long weekends, and outboard power.

So Iboats, what's your dream boat?

That boat is a nice looking boat and would likely be on my list. My biggest problem is we are on a lake and to get to the main part of the lake I have to go through a bay that drops to a foot and a half of water near the end of the season. With this in mind I can only use a runabout (like what I have now) with the trim up and dead slow. Go fast boats and car have always been on my bucket list.

Unfortunately my wife does not like boats so over nights would be by myself.

I have a Glastron CVX-20 Sprint, it's pretty close to my dream boat. I always wanted the Deluxe which is the one with the inboard ford 460 and jet drive. Something about the lines of the boat being so clean in the back and having a big block under the hood and no exposed prop. Or the Intimidator with the i/o chev 350 and thru-hull exhaust. From a practical perspective I know my Sprint is better for me in that with the outboard it's lighter, easier to work on, great parts availability, easy winterizing and the bilge stays bone dry. I would like a big sail boat some day but I like what I have in that it's so easy to trailer and store in my shop.

Wow, wild it gets that shallow. Do most people run jets?

As I fisherman I'm torn.

I've always wanted a Viking convertible and but I fell in love with the Hinckley Talaria since touring one at the Annapolis boat a few years back

Damn. Both of those are lookers. Maybe there will be room for two in the slip?

We talking "hitting the Lotto" bucket-list boat, or "what I will, in reality, be able to afford" bucket-list boat?

If the latter, I kinda already got it, a small center console that I can handle solo, tow with my old beater truck, and afford to maintain and operate.

If the former, haven't ever given it any thought, and likely never will.

If somewhere in the middle...maybe joining Freedom Boat Club?

25-30' Baja w/twin V8's. Of course I won't be able to feed it so it'll be a dock beautification device.

Reality...probably a 22' bowrider w/V8 around 300HP. Hopefully the tree huggers haven't killed off the V8 by then.

I can hope my boys do better than I did and treat me to their boat so I don't have to worry about filling the tank :joyous:

Let's go with somewhere in the middle. I hope to be in a position to pull off a purchase like that by the time I'm 50 (27 now).

Can't beat the sounds of twins with thru hull exhaust! I hope you get it someday!

I could likely afford to buy my dream boat, but where the dream goes "POOF" is coming up with the money to run it, store it and maintain it!!! That, and I'm not getting any younger. Ladders to go up, and down, to get anywhere to do anything once on board would have a tendency to slow me down.

So I'll stick with my pontoon boat..... and be thankful for the opportunity to have that.

That's the truth. Buying the boat itself is usually the cheapest part!

That's what I tell people, buying the boat is just the down payment. Then comes insurance, gas and maintenance all on a weekly and yearly bases...

OK depressed now, lets get back to fancy boats we likely will never be able to afford.

Precisely my situation. If there IS a "next boat", which I kinda doubt, it'll probably be a smaller outboard something. My first boat was a 21' WAC and I wouldn't mind going back to something like that.

21' Sanger Catalina from the days of the REAL muscle cars. A very high performance "sleeper" with enough of a "V" hull to handle 18"-24" chop at full speed (easy 75mph). You just didn't want to hit much of a wake at that speed as the chop would often leave a couple feet of air under the boat... Chev. 427 (425hp), Casale Vdrive w/10% over drive gears, Turbo 400 trans with manual/auto shift (allowed you to start in second gear, first was a waste of time, also had gutted torque converter). Automatic installed to compete with jet boats at the time. Taking off in second, the front of the boat would just start to come down - and it would shift into 3rd, raising the nose back up again! Turn fins mounted mid ship (like a ski boat) made this boat an incredible ski boat!

Would love to have this boat back in it's original condition. I'm not sure though, if I'd still have the guts to stand on the gas pedal for more than a few seconds. A couple of old (grainy) pics are all I have. -Al

If money was no object, it would be an FPB97 for sure. Those are easily the most over-built and seaworthy pleasure boats ever made. Realistically, I will be buying a used Tollycraft 45 in about 5 years.
