Agreed, My Mom's boat is much worse then yours, n' I for one like old beater boats, so I actually kinda like yours n' I luv yer motor! That Yellow monster in #53 is nearly at the 'shocking' level, that could potentially stop clocks n' all, (wish I had one like it), IMHO. JR

I like the yellow snubby, but I shudder at the thought of being in that thing trying to navigate 3 foot swells...It looks like it would submarine pretty quickly...

Nothing's going to beat that yellow barge thing. That is, by far, the ugliest boat I've ever seen. Looks like someone put a cabin on a plastic tub. Still, I'd love to own it. My goal is to make folks laugh at my boat.

I have an ugly boat i just bought and have not a clue of what make or model it is. but here it is...Anybody have a clue as to what I bought let me know!
After it is restored I will post a new pic.

Go to www.fiberglassics.com and post a pic of your boat on the forum. Somebody there will probably know what you have. Several photos from different angles, plus the inside of the boat, will help in identification.

In a way, this is a tough contest. Just how do we judge? Do we judge the ugliness based on design, modification, or lack of care? A lot of the boats posted aren't necessarily ugly, just need tlc. some, like the Yellow Snubby, are just so head-scratchingly baffling that you are left with mixed emotions. Then there are those that, due to some sort of psychosis, someone bastardized it to the point of being offensive in appearance.

If my criteria is based on whether I just tasted my breakfast in the back of my throat when seeing it, then I have to go with my own entry. The pictures just do not do justice to the horror of lifting that "doghouse" (which was composed of plywood screwed together) and seeing a straight six with manual transmission sitting in there, or that 12+ inches of sheetmetal machine screwed to the hull for additional freeboard. The plywood "transom" painted with gloss house paint is the kicker. I'm tasting my breakfast again....

BTW, that is real ugly - at least until you take that daggum NOTLUND tag off. Then, a coat o' paint and no one could guess the year of that.

Sure -- there's some damn fine ugly out there, but can any of you guys grow moss....on aluminum?

My first boat, a 1970 or so Springbok with a little Merc 7.5. All the vinyl has been scraped off the seats, two ribs are cracked, transom insert is rotted, transom support is cracked, mice have eaten all the floatation and to top if off the thing got sunk last summer. She sports all sorts of dings and dents from hundreds of hours of river exploring (the Canadian Shield is makes for an unforgiving river bed), as well as a very iffy lipstick-coloured brush-on paint job from when I was about 11 and too shy to take the paint back to the local hardware store and tell 'em they messed up the mixture... I quite literally grew up in that thing and now I'm in the process of reviving her so I can teach my own youngster the sins of a boating life. Maybe this time around I'll include some maintenance tips...
