only being 38 years old I have had 30-40 cars already...most were hoopty cars but some werent so bad...

I hear that. I lost count at 70 vehicles owned, and I am only 42.

My first car was a '41 Cadillac that I bought in 1956 for $100. Was in the service and had to give it up when I later went overseas. Drove it from Annapolis MD to Mobile AL and sold it. It had an automatic transmission and a V-8. First auto transmission I'd ever driven. Wish I still had the car.

My 1st vehicle was a 1974 Yamaha RD200 motorcycle. Some old guy had it in his shed for 10 years, so I took it home, stripped it down, cleaned it, put it back together and used that for 3-4 years before I moved up to a bigger bike. I actually got my motorcycle license before my driver's license, simply because gas (and insurance) was WAY cheaper for a bike than a car.

My 1st car which I managed to get on the road (legally), was a 1986 Pontiac Grand Am. The 1983 Subaru 4WD wagon and the Chevy Cavalier wagon wouldn't pass inspection, so I had to sell them

My first car was a 66 ford Thunder-bird 2Dr convertible worked two years restoring it to come home from school and found it gone. My Step dad got mad and sold it. Never got to drive it. Next car was a 75 Ford Mustang. first bike was a 1986? 440 Kaw.LTD

First car was a 1946 Chrysler New Yorker, 2-door coupe, flathead straight eight with a weird semi-automatic transmission. Paid $40 for it at an estate sale. This car was over 18' long and had room only for one bench seat in the cockpit. Actually ran pretty good. Had 40K miles on it.

First bike, Schwinn.

First Motorcycle, Puch, 250cc, split cylinder (two pistons attached to one rod), 2 cycle

Ok first Car 71 Olds Cutlass 442 ( rare with an automatic in it ) got it for $150 when I was 16 due to it smoking badly ( dad knew what the smoke was ) . $5.00 vacuum modulator valve later no more smoke drove it all through highschool . My mom actually just sold it recently had been in her garage since I went into the military.

At least the Saab had a 4-cycle in it. I still can remember the old 2-cycle, 3-cylinder Saabs buzzing around, leaving a trail of 2-cycle smoke. I don't know what the ratio was. Maybe 20:1? LOL.

The '65 Cyclone was the best lookin' Comet ever made. It looked better and probably handled better than the '66 390/335HP Cyclones.

I have to do a double take when I see the asking prices on those cars now.

64 Chevy pickup, with ALOT of miles on it, smoked and leaked like a sieve. 283 2 bbl, PG for $595.
Sold a 66 identical but GREAT shape about 3 years ago, paid $900, sold for $2500....had $150 in it, wood in great shape as well as whole original body and interior.

My first car was a '91 Toyota 4runner that was a hand-me-down from my dad. 4cylinders 4X4 with a 5speed.
First car I bought a a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4X4.

The first motorized vehicle of my own was a 1971 Chevelle SS396 4 spd. Got into too much trouble with that one and ended up having to sell it.

First truck was a 1976 Dodge Power Wagon 4x4 short box with 360Cu, 8" lift and 39" super swamper tires. Fun ride but cost a fortune to drive.

Never learned to drive a bike

75 ford ltd. floors in the back used to be speed limit signs, got about 6 miles to the gallon, and couldn't get out of it's own way. paid 500 for it.

yup i got hosed.

1972 harley davidson 65cc shortster. i was 9 years old, and king of the world. aermacchi built them for harley, but i didn't care....it was a HARLEY!

1st. car- 1978 Honda Prelude. Very used...
1st bike- 1969 Kawasaki H-1 2 stroke triple w/ chambers. . My buds hated riding behind me on that one as it blew chunks of oil and blue smoke at them.
1st truck- 1976 ish Dodge Power Wagon 2 wd with giant holes in the floor. Patched holes w/ road signs

My first car was a 74 Audi fox with a four speed manual trans. It was basic, no air, no radio, but it did have a sunroof.

I bought it for $425 and at the time I bought it I could not drive a stick. My dad parked it in the driveway and went off to work. Well I am looking at it sitting out there and decide to teach myself how to drive a stick. Good thing my house was on the highest point in Mpls. Everything was downhill. I learned to drive that thing all by myself that day..

I finally figured out why i could not shift in to 3rd or 4th gear before about 40 mph. I pulled the head and it had a hole in the #1 piston. My dad and I bought a used VW Dasher engine (oddly this was the same engine used in a plymouth horizon/dodge Omni - made by Mitsubishi) and dropped it in. With a new set of tires and a new engien that thing was awesome to drive. It was also a snowmobile..

I really miss that car. It was fun and very simple.. I sold it for $750.

1966 Mustang, 3 speed manual, color was "lime gold" (metallic puke green). Still own it 27 years later!
