Re: Need Some Help On My 1960 or 1970 Something SS Resto!!!
Been busy stripping the "Donor Boat" and tried my hand at a poly CSM layup.
Hearing about using glass and actually experiencing it are two different things!
After reading and learning for the past year I thought I had a plan. Pre drilled holes on transom. I coated (wet) the transom real good filling all screw holes.
I had pre cut some CSM and layed it down on top of the wet transom. I mixed 8oz Poly at a time (112 drops hardener) pored it on glass and spread with a 6" wide plastic putty knife. Think I should have used a squeegee? It spread fine but I found it difficult on the edges keeping the glass from peeling or shredding apart. It looked like icicles hangin off the sides. Anyway I got 1 side completed its hard as a rock. Cured for 2 days. Question..Can I spread Epoxy resin over the Poly. I have read 100 post on this but am still confused..Yeah or Neah? Pretty sure Poly wont stick/adhere to epoxy but epoxy will adhere to poly.
