Re: 22' Starcraft Mariner Project
Re: 22' Starcraft Mariner Project
This site has been great, although I think my wife is sick of me staying up so late reviewing posted projects.
With the help of this site, I've been able to get a real grasp on what I'm instore for with my restoration/retrofit.
And I've been able to get a true concept of my budget.
Thank you all very much.
So today I sketched up my rendition of the new console, while I was in the reading room I might add. (the only place I get some peace, with a 2yr old and a 7month old in the house.)
I mocked it up tonight out of cardboard and ductape.
It turned out great, and although I don't have the boat here at the house, I think its size of 26" W x 18"L x 28"H it will sit nicely centered in my 8' beam. with the steering and throttle mounted on top it should just break the line of the gunwals. I'm going for a low profile as this will be a duck boat.
The contols will be mounted flat on top of the console so that I can operate the boat from the front of the console, while I'm spooling in/out decoy motherlines.
While I was sitting behind the console envisioning its position in the boat, cented and in the back. I started to dream of using this boat when it wasn't duck season and I started to see two bench seats, one on eitherside of the boat with a pedestal table mounted in the middle. I could just see my wife and two kids sitting eating dinner, while we did a little August evening trolling for salmon on lake michigan.
When I ran in the house and told my wife what I had seen, her reply was, "your only trying to justify to me how much money your going to be spending on this boat" "and I might add that I haven't even seen this POS yet". She can be critical at times but I have great vision of this boat and I'm not looking back.
Well, thanks for reading. I will continue to post my project as the saga continues..... back to viewing others great projects and questions.... Good night.
