Piston is scored from a heat seize all sores are below the rings
Some are 1mm deep.
Can they be filled with JB Weld and reused ?

For yourself as an experiment?...... Perhaps.
For a customer, a repair under warranty?..... Not likely.

This is just so i can sell the engine
I cant justify spending £180 on new pistons
For what i will get for the engine.
Prior to the strip down the motor (1980 V4 85 hp) i was getting 110 psi on all 4 pots
That was with the scoring and 3 stuck rings
This is why i need to know if it will work

Number 1 mint
Number 2 OK for use by someone else
Number 3 OK for my self to use
Number 4 BIN

I understand guys and No i wouldn't sell something to someone if i had any doubt in my mind.
I have been stung twice and would never sting anyone.
I am a decent guy that is still learning about out boards from you guys.
Thank you for confirming what i already thought.
New piston will be ordered

I don't see that number in the parts book... What's the model number of the engine?

For your information.-----3.500 crossflow motors use the same standard piston from 1974 to 1998 models.

Have you measured the bores with your 3-4 " micrometer and telescopic gauges ??

I've found that Gray Marine-Tex works a lot better than JB Weld.
