    Johnson 115 Powerhead Replacement

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for your views. I have a 1993 johnson 115 (v115tlats) that a previous owner has installed a 90 hp (flatback) powerhead and carbs onto. I am contemplating purchasing a remanufactured powerhead from OBR in Mobile AL. Has anyone on this forum ever dealt with this...

1993 Johnson 90 broken and siezed cylinder head bolt...Help!

So I have been wanting to do head and water passage gaskets on my outboard for about a year now and I finally got around to it, and now I think im in deeper than I thought. The reason for wanting to do this is that I notice a lot of heavy corrosion where the heads meet the block, and the small...

2 power packs. Whats the difference?

Parts diagram says there are 2 power packs that could fit a 93 johnson 115. Whats the difference between omc 0584030 and omc 0584028? Which one would I use? I dont see any numbers on the old one.

New (to me) Sea Doo! Need Help!

Hello everyone! I have aquired a 1994 Sea Doo 650 (I think?). When cranked it idles great, but bogs down and cuts off when I give it any throttle. I can sometimes pull the choke out about 1/4 of the way while giving it throttle and get up to almost 3000 rpms but thats the best I can get. It will...

    1993 115? or 90......

Ok, I have a 1993 johnson 115 (j115tlats on the plate), that I have had about 5 years. Until recently I didn't question anything, as it ran pretty well, I just felt that it should push my boat a little better than it does. I recently noticed fuel leaking from the plastic carb bowls, and after...

    Johnson 115 oily residue

I own a 93 j115tlats outboard. When I run it at home, instead of ear muffs, I like to fill a large rubbermaid tote with water and run the motor with the foot submerged as its much quieter, and not forced. I let the hose run in the tote to keep full and fresh. However after letting it run for 10...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish Next, all that was left was to put on the new rub rail, and clean everything up.I don't have too many finished pics yet, as I have taken off all of my upholstered surfaces to have them re-done. In a couple of weeks I should have new upholstery and...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish Next, I did some rigging, mounted the engine, and console and seat base. Then, I mounted the horn and bow light, and installed the two front speakers (5 1/4" Jensen Marine), and two new console speakers (6 1/2" Kicker Marine). I installed all new...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish Then I gave it 2 coats of Johnson Evinrude Charcoal Metallic Grey. It took 3 cans, but came out pretty nice. I also put a SE Sport Hydrofoil on it, but didn't get photos until already rigged on the boat. So here's what it looks like.... No...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish After painting I let the boat sit 4 days to fully cure......during this time, I stripped down and painted the outboard... After sanding..... I gave it a good coat of zinc phosphate primer...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish The next morning, I peeled the tape. I got 2 basketball size balls of used tape!! Anyways I brushed the surface down with a plastic bristle brush, to knock off excess grit, and blew the whole boat out really good with the blower. Next I wiped it...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish So, next I wiped down lightly with 2333N over the tape, then rubbed the tape down as best as I could with a dry towel, and gave it a coat of paint over the pattern. Then I put the Intergrip Non Skid into a large salt shaker and sprinkled it into...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish Okay even after 5 rolls, I stll ran out and ended up just using blue 3/4" masking tape in a diagonal pattern on the very front bow. In some places on the blue tape you can see I used a razor blade to round the corners for a nicer finish. I also...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish The downside to the paint being very high gloss is that it will also be slippery. I had already planned on using non skid additive on the walking surfaces, but non skid makes it harder to clean. After pondering it in my head, I came up with a very...

1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish

Re: 1993 17' Center Console Complete Refurbish Okay, after the primer dried overnight, I hand sanded everything, blew it out with blower, wiped down with 2333N, and gave it a full coat of paint.... The paint has a very nice high gloss wet look! It already looked beautiful after 1 coat!
