Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
The other pics were too big to load but this one shows the weld. The rest is just dents. The wife and I have decided the boat has some kind of horrid past that we really don't want to know. It's good and bad, the boat got wrecked but I think it was never...
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
[QUI don't know why the picture is sideways but the bottom is on the left. That will give me a chance to do the bottom, I think I will Gluvit it and paint the bottom white. It's pretty bad. I will keep the sides bare aluminum.
Huron, look up Ulmcolcos Lake...
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Don't have neighbors so beer wouldn't attract them. Pulled the boat up into the shop with a come along. The wife was not impressed but she did take some pictures. The boat is taking up a bit more room than I thought so I will have to move a bunch more tools...
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Snuck a second coat on between chores. Put the red trim off the sides in vinegar for a few hours to clean it up. Big mistake. Now it is ugly pink, hope I can replace it.
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Had to take the 14' Starcraft out of the water but I did get to hit the Jetstar with 180 on the random orbit and some steel wool. For some reason the dents just don't seem to bother me, kinda like a 4 wheel drive truck, it's not supposed to be too pretty.
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
A few pics. Gluvit, initial strip on the hood and the windshield laid on (right side up). I know, there is some leaves in the Gluvit, fall comes early in northern Maine.
Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration
Just getting a chance to see the progress, great work and good info. Love the pics. Nice idea on the 5200 for the cap, that is what makes this such a great forum. No nails no entry
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Took a picture of the transom but it was too big to download, it certainly was bad and did come out in one piece. Only had to cut 5 bolts, could have been worse. On the way home I bought some self etching primer at the local car parts store. Hope to get the...
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Almost too hot to work for a lazy bum like me but I did get the dash sanded and mostly back in. Also fixed 2 of the three braces. Went with all wood instead of the metal and I think it may work. Traveling to Bar Harbor next weekend and will pick up Gluvit...
Re: Older Star Craft Jet Star rebuild
Hey, look at that, thanks man. Took me 3 times even with the instructions, I shut my brain off at 4. Anyway, the pic in the middle shows the problem I have getting the dash out. You can't really see it but there is an angle iron in the corner that won't...
Instead of living in quiet desperation the people on this site have inspired me to rebuild (attempt) a 15' Star Craft Jet Star. I have no idea how old it is or how to find out but it has a wonderful 1950s early 60s art deco convertible car look to it. Let me start by saying I have no idea what I...
