Mercarb 2BBL accelerator pump check ball

Thanks alldodge, but sadly that looks nothing like the Mercarb accelerator pump assembly. The reference to the check ball in the gif is an obvious one, but the Mercarb doesn't have a place for it, unless it just floats around in the pump chamber. There is a hole and a slot in the chamber but the...

Mercarb 2BBL accelerator pump check ball

Hi all, I hope you are all well. I'm rebuilding my Mercarb serial number 3304 9565 model year 7Y 03. I've been searching through the Mercruiser service manual and made a lot of internet searches including a search through the forum, but I can't find a definitive answer for what the aluminium...

    Ignition switch & ignition circuit

Thanks Chris, interesting, I would have thought the M (Magneto) terminals are for an Outboard and C (Coil) for IO . I've double checked and definitely when the lanyard is connected/inserted the buzzer sounds on my meter reads 100% continuity between M terminals but nothing on the C terminals...

    Ignition switch & ignition circuit

I think so Chris. This switch has 4 terminals. 2 C terminals and 2 M terminals. When the Lanyard key is inserted, my continuity meter tells me that the 2 C's are open and the 2 M's are closed and visa versa when the Lanyard key is removed. I therefore think that it is made for both Outboard and...

    Ignition switch & ignition circuit

Hi Guys I need some advice please. I'm putting in a new kill switch but want to wire it in via the ignition switch, please see my boat and engine details in my signature. I think I've got it right but I would like to check with you. I've enclosed a picture of my switch and according to the...

Trim question on Alpha 1 gen 1

The outdrive oil drain screw is situated at the lower front of the gear housing, looking at it from the prop end its on the left. I think the suggestion is that you check the drive oil in case you have water intrusion. If you had the drive down and the water came out after lifting it, I...

4.3L Front Engine mounts (old style) in Sea Ray Seville

Quote "The stud should be at a right angle to the mount. It looks like you can push the new Mount forward and have it aligned with the holes, it isn't aligned with the rear either. That said, it certainly possible that the original mounts were not perfect, and the rubber took a set over time."...

4.3L Front Engine mounts (old style) in Sea Ray Seville

Hi guys It's me again with a question. Has anyone come across this previously please? Some of you are aware I am changing my engine mounts due to them rotting through, see engine type, serial number and boat in my signature . I couldn't get original Mercruiser Mounts in the UK so I've managed to...

    Replacing alpha one retainer nut

Agree with dubs, the ring is there as a back up but not as an initial water seal/gasket. The Alpha Manual does not mention gluing it in place, unlike the SE116 videos where they lather it on, but dubs idea of the dabs of bellows adhesive which is essentially an impact adhesive worked for me. For...

    Engine Mounts Install

Thanks dubs. Someone else suggested that too. I think if I do one at a time and use belt and braces (you call them suspenders) and use my bottle jack and pole across the gunwales it should spread the weight.

    Replacing alpha one retainer nut

I did mine a few years back. As other replies have said, there is no connection with water ingress in the bellows and the bearings retainer nut. Bellows may have a small nick in them or you have a bad gasket. If you have water in the drive bellows check the Gimbal Bearing.

Are, now I do have a rather strong scaffold pipe I could do that with. Thank you Bondo.

    Engine Mounts Install

Hi all. I'm about to install the new engine mounts I bought and have managed to get all the 5 bolts plus the stud nut, which attach the brackets to the engine, to move. There is always one bolt though isn't there. Some of the head of one bolt had worn down so a 9/16" socket would just spin...

MerCruiser 4.3 Fuel Problem (I think)

I couldn't agree more. A friend of mine started his engine without muffs, the impeller was toast. Luckily all the bits were found.

Outdrive does not want to re -install in boat

Goodness me, achris you make it look soooo easy. I've had my drive off many times and had the same problems turning the prop to make it fit but the tip about oil on the O rings is priceless. Just about to watch your other vids. Thank you.

    Mercruiser Engine Mounts

After a bit more research I found my engine number on the plate attached to the flywheel housing............ sorry but I have a couple more questions... Question 1/ B960007 which I guess is 0B96007, is that correct? A few different look up's give different answers as to the type but are...

Alpha one not fully engaging reverse

Clarko I watched achris's video several times when I put in a new shift cable and it is without doubt THE best explanation on a "how to" I could find. I'm sure if you follow his instruction and it still doesn't work then a new cable might help.
