350 Magnum Tournament Ski spark plugs

It's certainly possible that the HG between #s 3&5 is blown, given how the plugs look, are you seeing water in the oil as well? The endoscope camera is a good idea. Changing cylinder heads on a marine engine, if anything is easier than on a vehicle engine, that job on a small block Chevrolet is...

    Time to replace tires?

Kenda makes a decent bias ply trailer tire, (Load Star) I’ve been using them for over 20 years, no failures. When they start to crack I change them, between 5-8 years. I do only local lower speed towing so the use of bias ply is not a drawback for me.

    Spring replacement?

And when the spindle arms get all corroded or the rubber goes bad inside you’re not fixing it, you’re replacing it at 2x the cost of a spring axle

    Spring replacement?

Also read the section on that site where he explains the difference in how the force of the weight is transferred from the axle to the frame, torsion vs springs. With the springs the force is spread out along the frame (each one has two mounting points) but with torsion it is concentrated all in...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL PWTR - severe overheat - thought I was on fire - troubleshooting Questions

PS here's what a reman head looks like (4.3 V6, pre-Vortec)... I think what you're seeing is the residue of the old head gasket Also in this pic you can see one advantage of the V6, none of the exhaust valves is right next to another, I guess it can run a bit cooler under high loads, than the...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL PWTR - severe overheat - thought I was on fire - troubleshooting Questions

The advantage of having a machine shop checked the heads is that they will remove all the valves and that will reveal cracks you’d never see otherwise. My overheating happened in July of 2013, after this it ran perfectly normally you’d never know that there were cracks in both heads! I was...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

Chrysler Pentastar you have to remove the upper intake to do one bank of plugs. To do the plastic oil filter housing the whole intake has to come off.

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL PWTR - severe overheat - thought I was on fire - troubleshooting Questions

What I’d to for sure, I’d take the heads to an automotive machine shop and get them magnafluxed to see if they are cracked or not. Where it can happen is the center cyls exhaust ports because the exhaust valves are right next to each other so it gets the hottest there. Mine had cracks in the...

I used up all my curse words yesterday

The Chevy Monza of the mid 70s required jacking the engine to get the last plug out. Some brands of manifolds are bad like that where there is extra material on the bottom of the manifold for no real reason that gets in your way…

We are in for 2 weeks of drizzle. Day and night.

I’m trying to convince my adult son to get OUT of New York, the weather is nice maybe half of the year. Southwest here I come! Sick of winter, mildew, cars rusting and wood rotting…then there’s the taxes, energy costs, the illness of NYC infecting the suburbs and the politicians…it’s only people...

Volvo Penta 855932 Prestolite 7801A advance springs

Really strange issue with DPSM trim system - hoping for help
