    Stupid me, no oil

When I put in a new set of leaf springs I coat em with a handful of OMC/Evinrude triple guard grease and then spray 2x a year with fluid film. The ones I installed 4 years ago still look new….

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I’m very been at that same point for the past few years I might be a bit older than you Ted lol! I have permanently lubed ujoints & front wheel bearings in my 98 Jeep it’s 27 years old with 182,000 miles & I have not had to change one yet! With the drive, I’d be worried about the bellows...

    Housekeeping PSA

Sorry to see that! Water damage is the worst! We have a whole house water filter system and as part of that we have water alarms in the furnace room, laundry room, all bathrooms and really should add one 1️⃣ n the kitchen! If there’s a leak the alarm system shuts off the water flow…saved us a...

    outdrive stuck

sounds good and as much as it can be a pain, removing that outdrive at the end of each season, can help you avoid the pain, of this! my gimble bearing was last replaced 21 years ago just checked the bellows I replaced 9 years ago and it looks great the ujoints, are original, 37 years old with...

    4.3L mercruiser engine

Some of the other readings don't make sense, your engine temp is very low, yet water pressure is also low, with low water pressure you might expect the engine temp to be too high....

93 mercruiser 4.3 alpha one gen 2 fuel problem (I think)

Well you’d have to know how much the floats are supposed to weigh or buy a new set and compare new to the old. I haven’t had that problem with the Quadrajet in the boat but it can happen…I have heard of those floats in the Carter/Weber/Edelbrock 4 bbl rubbing against the side of the fuel bowl…..

Is this Water Pump to Gear Housing Adapter Installed Correctly?

The other thing to look for is water in the gear oil, that seal is what keeps water from the water pump out of the gear oil.

93 mercruiser 4.3 alpha one gen 2 fuel problem (I think)

Those Carter/Weber Edelbrock carbs actually have 2 float bowls on either side of the central venturis and so you have 2 floats, 2 needle valves. Could be something quite simple as the rubber needle valve tip deteriorates just due to time. My test for leaky floats is to unbolt carb & dump out...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL PWTR - severe overheat - thought I was on fire - troubleshooting Questions

I rolled the dice on this one and it worked out fine but it was a bit of a gamble esp because mine was used 100% in salt water & the water was in the oil for about a week before I could get the boat out of the water and start Diagnosing it. Changed oil 3/4 times and drained the engine of water...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL PWTR - severe overheat - thought I was on fire - troubleshooting Questions

You can temporarily replace the hoses from the thermostat housing with clear hose of the same diameter. You have to run the engine when it’s in the water & under load & good & hot to ensure the that the thermostat is fully open, look for bubbles in the cooling water inside each hose as it flows...

    Birds in the boat . . .

I had to resort to 3 Gullsweeps to keep birds off my boat during the season, and also keep the old nasty fake cats around just in case, lol. The gullsweeps really do work, I had nothing on my mooring covers as long as I've been using them.
