    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

Thanks Scott. I'll take a closer look tomorrow. When it comes to the cable are Morse the way to go or are manufacturers pretty equivalent now?

    Replacement Cables

Hi Todd, The first pic is the throttle OMC 2.3. I did my best trying beind the side panel. There is an attachment point where both cables are side by side but can't get a clear picture of it so I don't know what may or may not be part of the cable itself. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Replacement Cables

Hi all, I have an 88 capri 1750 BR and wanted to ask if anyone would know replacement cable part numbers for the throttle and front shift. I've been looking around and in worst-case scenario I measure and identify the connections but wanted to ask anyway. The ones I currently have are red which...

    Engine idle RPM

Hi all just a quick question I hope. In reading some of the articles about setting the idle speed I have seen a couple people mentioning about the speed going lower once in the water compared to being on muffs. Is there a rough estimate on the change of rpm's?

Can worn points cause this? Video included

To be honest I totally forgot that there used to be one and the kits I have since ordered didn't include it. It doesn't appear to be an individual part. I did find one pictorially under OMC/Johnson #0382135 which I may get in hopes it truly has it which thankfully it's inexpensive. Thus is for...

    Question On Changing Stringer Location

The boat I am currently working on is my first. I suggest doing alot of research prior to starting and see if it's in your range. My 88 Capri post like others can give you some idea and always come to the forum with questions.

    Immediate delamination

I personally had trouble with the roller method and went to the cheap bristle brushes.

    Immediate delamination

I saturated the rag I was using almost like slopping it on and it would make the existing glass sticky. I would apply a layer of resin just as I was about to lay the cloth down and pour a small puddle of resin and use a bristle brush and work towards the outside. I also found that depending on...

    Immediate delamination

I had a similar issue when I started my project in which I started being alot more generous with the acetone and putting a coat of resin down prior to laying and wetting the cloth and it really eliminated that issue for me.

    Question On Changing Stringer Location

I originally had 3/4" pine boards for stringers and they lasted 30 years. I replaced them with 3/4" plywood and they are so much stronger than the originals plus last my lifetime because they are sealed correctly.

    Question On Changing Stringer Location

I just ground down to "clean" glass. The area the stringers were in had a slight angle to them and any adjustments I needed to make with the height of the stringers I took it from the wood. The crease as you mention I ran into under the console and altered the stringers to keep them at the...
