    Hearing Aids anyone ?

I just got a set from Costco. Mostly for tinnitus. They were the best price. Blue tooth capable. They don't really interfere with glasses. The mask tangling can be a bit annoying if your not careful. Main thing is to keep wearing them everyday until your brain adjusts to the new sound. It seems...

Bad News from a Family Member Today

I saw a video (danger marine I believe) where a motor was submerged in salt water. They left it there until they were ready to rescue it and then immediately resubmerged it in fresh water for a while to remove the salt and then took out all the oil and let it dry good. they had it running in a...

Keeping boat interior (carpeting / fabric) "nice"

I missed the sarcasm as well! I thought you were serious, I was thinking "whats the point of carpet if you remove it everytime you use the boat!"

    Help with materials (recommendations needed)

I did mine last year. I didn't remove the cap and didn't make a cradle. Just left her on a roller trailer the whole time. No problems for me, can't speak for anyone else! What are you using for core material on your stringers and transom? What type of resin are you going to use?

    Next to No Maintenance

Well if it runs fine and don't seem to have any problems i'd use it a while and then check the oil for water. If the oil stays clean then I wouldn't go looking for problems.

Wonder if I should go IO again or go OB?

That big hole in the transom with just some rubber bellows keeping out the water was one of the big reasons I switched to OB.

    Running Yamaha on Flush Fitting

On another post I saw someone say that the thermostat won't open unless the hose has a lot of pressure. I don't think thats correct, but it did get me wondering if the water route from the hose thru the engine bypasses the thermostat or if when flushing you need to run until the engine heats up...

Sea Ray 180 sig series termite/water in ski locker rot

Yeah, under that flat floor in the ski locker is likely a thin layer of foam. On mine I cut the last foot or so before the transom out. The foam seemed dry so I didn't go any farther forward and glassed off the cut end. Now I have a rear little well that goes down to the true bottom of the boat...

How Far Can an Electric Truck Tow?

I remember thinking to myself in the 90's that a home computer wasn't necessary and nothing more then an expensive video game, never mind cell phones. So I'm now not so quick to shut down new ideas, I have a history of being wrong!

Motor transplant, is my home-made transom strong enough?

Is there fiberglass between the two sheets of plywood? You can add more FG to the inside if you are worried. Also the floor will help brace the transom.

    Water issues

I would definitely worry if I found water in my oil and oil in the water! I'm new to outboards so I won't offer advice that might be wrong, but get that checked out and don't assume its condensation....

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

I think a lot of what people are calling salt buildup in engines is actually lime buildup. Salt should dissolve in freshwater, lime don't, at least not quickly.

Taking boat into salt / brackish water

Smart approach, main thing is watch the weather. Also be aware of hidden rocks, reefs and such. Make sure your engine is dependable. Do you have a kicker for emergencies and a second battery?
