    No Plane, Low RPM'S

Check the fuel rail with a magnet. The first Volvos with fuel injection had steel fuel rails that will rust inside and the particles will get into the injectors. Later models have stainless rails. If you cannot get ethanol free gasoline that can cause some problems.

Tilt solenoid issue or bad wiring?

Cleaning everything is a good start. If the problem persists then you will need to replace the relay. If it has only 3 terminals then it is a grounded base relay. If there are 4 then the other small wire is the ground and it is not automotive.

1972 OMC 225 Tilt not working

It may be possible that the tilt motor could be some of the problem. The brushes may be either stuck or worn down and not contacting the commutator and arcing which also eats up the segments. The motor is Sierra # 18-6754. Also 18-0917 gasket. A short 3/8” 12 point box end wrench is the best...

1972 OMC 225 Tilt not working

The Iwo came here to New Orleans for Mardi Gras in 93 and I got to go on board with my son and was able to take him all over the ship. The guys in the boat shop told me about the upcoming de commission. We went to Norfolk for it and had dinner with the Captain who was on it when I was. I...

1972 OMC 225 Tilt not working

It is not supposed to slip like the way you are describing. There are some parts missing. The snap ring almost looks like it may not be the original. Is it as thick as the groove it mounts in? The one that fits in there from the factory has a very tight fit in the groove and as I posted...

1972 OMC 225 Tilt not working

If the motor is working as you said then you should not have to remove it. The hammer blow coupling can only be removed with the tilt motor out of the way. If you can install the snap ring without a press or large vice then there are some parts missing. Try to get a parts manual. Is your...

1972 OMC 225 Tilt not working

There is a snap ring that holds the clutch pack and bell vill spring washers together. The only way that the snap ring can be installed is with a piece of 1 1/4” pipe about 2” long with about 1/3 of one side cut away for access to properly install the snap ring. Also the ring has a flat and...

    stringers black and white?

Not unless someone painted their drive with anti fouling paint. Every one I ever saw with factory paint was white.

    Tilt/Trim backwards

Just remember, front line to the front port on the ram. The rams are not right and left, they are both the same. The trim limit switch is mounted at the top of the gimbal ring which was designed to last about 1 month out of warranty. To replace it is a major repair job and not worth the...

Boat stalled, later found oil in Bilge... help!

As S D Said about the timing cover. When the engine was painted and with the harmonic balancer mounted they never received 1 drop of paint under it and also the area where the metal is spot welded on the lower flange. If you hurt the crankshaft it is no big deal to have it turned undersize and...

replacing water intake hose and found this:

If you raise the drive and push the drive over to the port side you will see how the hose is connected to the out side of the plastic tube with a hose clamp. The tube is sealed in the transom plate with a grommet under the flange with the 2 bolts.

replacing water intake hose and found this:

You might be able to gently insert a tapered tool or wood dowel stick to carefully re shape it. To replace the plastic tube you will need to pull the drive and bell housing also would be a good time to replace the bellows and water hose.
