conversion from teledyne to oildyne tilt trim

The Oildyne style are low pressure high volume. Just the opposite of what you have. The later style Prestolite with the built in reverse lock would be the cheapest and easiest to stay with. If there are any Mercruiser shops in your area you may get one from a re power that the shop did and...

conversion from teledyne to oildyne tilt trim

If your power trim lines come out from the side of the gimbal housing rather than the bottom like the 70-71 models then you will have to have some hoses custom made to connect to the Alpha style rams. There is a large boat salvage yard here in the New Orleans area that should have what you need.

Where to start? Mercruiser Overheat / Thanks

There is a metered hole in the thermostat housing which will get corroded shut that can cause what you are describing. Sometime the hole is so corroded that it is not visible. Shifting issues alpha 1 gen 1

Since the drive has to be removed to replace the shift cable check for a build up of corrosion in the rear pocket of the bell housing where the shift slider travels for reverse. Sometimes the build up prevents the slider from full movement which will trigger the interrupter switch. At the same...

Drill 2 holes 180* apart with a 3/16” bit between the shaft and outer diameter being careful not to damage the threads in the gear housing. Insert a #1 Phillips screwdriver in each hole then with a large screwdriver between the inserted ones you should be able to unscrew the bushing. This...

Need to know about the 1980 Volvo AQ145A Engine

I have to go with Scott on this one also as far as the engine. The 280 drive will outlast 2 engines. If the owner lowers the price and you still like the boat and the hull is solid you could always replace the engine with a 3.0 Chevy marine engine with the corresponding adapter to the Volvo drive.

    Mercruiser 140 Carb/Fuel?

When the carburetor is apart look closely at the power valve spring that it is not rusted. That can also cause a lean out problem If water ever found it’s way in the fuel system. 87 bayliner ciera 2450 will not shift out of forward, any suggestions??

Remove the cover on the rear of the drive and check if the cable is moving the linkage. Bayliner used a generic control box to keep the cost down. They wear out. If the cable is the problem they are easy to replace. Try to post a picture of the linkage on the back of the drive.
