    Weird Ignition System Issue

Oh, I hadn't realized the post was from a couple years ago. Hope all is good.

    Weird Ignition System Issue

You were probably getting a false reading or better explained as reading through a load or device. That senario will resemble an actual ground, but really just reading through a load of some type. If you would have disconnected the wire from the load side of the ignition switch, the one going to...

    Weird Ignition System Issue

If you are referring to the emergency lanyard kill switch, the engine will still crank with it in the off position, it just won't start. At least that's how mine is. Unless yours is somehow different, you can crank all day and it will seem to almost want to start. It will crank and cough, but...

High Performance Gear Lube Color - Bravo 3

Just wondering.....what is a drive shower? At first I thought it was a typo! Guess not... So, I'm guessing it's some form of a spray that cools the drive. Please explain. Inquiring minds....:)

    Winterizing time

Can you post the engine serial number? It will help in identifying which 4.3 you have and with that, members can better determine where your drain plugs are. My 4.3 has 5 drain plugs, but your's may be different. There were many 4.3's. Also, make sure they are fully drained when you...

Fluid Changes for Winterizing, Do I Need to?

Whatever you decide, at least check the drive lube for water, as suggested. Let some out of the lower plug. If it's dirty, change it. If it's milky, drain it and service the drive. If there was water intrusion, the water can freeze and damage the drive. Much more costly and more headaches if...

    Battery storage

My two boat batteries are the same ones in there when I bought the boat used in 2013. I have no clue how long they've actually been in the boat or how old they are. I was think of replacing them next year mostly because of their age. One of them did seem a bit weak last time we went out...

What I/O Drive options were used in a 19' Islander

Have you checked if the manufacturer has a current website? Some of them are very informative, have pretty good archives and sometimes even their own forums. Back in 2013, I was able to download the user's manual for a 10 year old Bayliner. It showed all the specs and options.

What I/O Drive options were used in a 19' Islander

I have no clue. Others may know, so hopefully they will chime in. I was wondering what was on your mind. Are you just curious or looking to re-power? It might help if we knew what you had in mind.

Advice: Rock Shore Line - Mooring, Docking, Anchoring

Are you not allowed to put out floating docks? On the lake we go to, there are docks everywhere. Some simple ones that extend from shore with just a few sections and some multi-branched ones with dozens of slips. Each dock needs to be registered and comply with certain rules under the...

    Battery storage

I take all 5 of my batteries inside for the Winter. Boat batteries, mowers, etc. They all go on battery maintainers in my basement. The key word in "maintainer", not trickle charge. I have five .75 amp NOCO brand battery maintainers. They keep them topped off automatically. They cycle...

    Long distance commuters

I once spent 11 hours traveling from Manhattan to northeastern Pennsylvania on a commuter bus due to deep snow. We ended up stopped on route 80 right at our exit which was 6 miles from our town. We convinced the driver to let us off. He made us sign a paper to void his responsibilities...

Craigslist /marketplace or junkyard for donor motor?

Unless you buy a long block from a reputable manufacturer, there's no guarantee what you'll get. Why not just rebuild what you have? You already have all the components and it's already marine-ized. Buy an engine stand and take your time. Investigate what is causing the knock. Maybe it's not...

Newbies Trying to Learn All We Can

Have you looked on Bayliner's site? Theres a lot there and if you dont find what you need, they have a forum there too. I was able to print out the manual for my 2003. Yours is a bit older, so it may be more difficult. You can get aftermarket covers that work pretty well for protection. I...

    Bayliner

If you feel discouraged or disagree with what has been stated, those responses are from experience and we are only trying to help. I have to agree, it is suspicious that the powerplant is absent. It makes me think someone parted it out for those components because the hull was shot...

    Long distance commuters

There's a lack of manners in today's society. We have a generation of rude selfish low-lifes that don't care about others, it's only about them. And to make matters worst, they are always in a rush. They seem to think they are more important than everyone else. I was raised the opposite of...

    Long distance commuters

I'm retired now, but I commuted 100+ miles each way for 20 years. I live in Pennsylvania and worked in the 5 boroughs of New York City. I called myself a "Super Commuter". Most of it was on a bus, but I did try sharing the driving for a while here and there, but that got old. It was much...
