    The description of that connecting bar states that it doesn't need to be disconnected when tilting and each can be tilted individually. If your motors can't tilt individually, as stated, perhaps it was set up wrong or it's the wrong model for your application.

    When I tape tape the bag of drain plugs to my steering wheel, I also include my garboard drain plug in the bag. All the plugs are in one obvious place. I use electrical tape with the sticky side up so the steering wheel doesn't get sticky. Or...use a ty-wrap.

    Yep, without that bonding wire, the drive becomes a sacrificial anode since it's made of aluminum. This might not be your problem. It's probably just covered in crud, but it's something to keep an eye on.
