    Mystery trim/tilt motor

Believe that is an old Prestolite trim pump. Were very common. Can easily swap to a more modern one with the poly tank. It does have the Merc 3 pin connector on it. What power package is in the boat?

Steering issues on a SeaStar steering

Doubt it's the steering system. Maybe a bent skeg on the lower end of the motor? Something dragging in the water, like a transducer or a trim tab? Is the outboard mounted square on the transom?

    White Ground wire

Don't know many pro guys that use the boat trailer chassis as a common ground point. Too many corrosion / connection related problems. On a camping trailer, ok, but not a boat trailer. They do bond the ground to the trailer frame, but for the most reliable system, all the lights (and electric...

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

The zerk fitting next to the sender is for the bushing. Pump in some marine grease and move drive up and down. Repeat till some grease squirts out around the bushing. Best fix would be to pull out the pins, one at a time, clean them up, grease the heck out of them and install per manual. Repeat...

    Another electric fuel pump issue

Try running it with the fuel fill cap off and see if it helps. Sometimes the fuel tank vent gets clogged, causing the tank to pull a vacuum when running.

How much power steering fluid does the system take (dual 5.7 Alpha 1 Gen 1)

If there is no indication of PS fluid in the bilge, a pressure test on the PS cooler may be warranted. Could be losing PS fluid to the cooling water if the cooler has a leak in one of the tubes, but I would think there would be indication of water in the fluid, too. Maybe not.

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

The manuals you downloaded have troubleshooting steps in them for the pump. There are quite a few things that can cause that, up to and including the wiring that runs to the switch in throttle / shift handle.

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

Glad you got a handle on it. I would get a new set of bushings. Not too expensive. Those ones have material deposited in them. You can try putting some waterproof grease on them, but they are crusty old things.

    Chris craft scorpion wiring diagram

90% of the engine / helm gauges and such are available in the Mercruiser manuals. Chris Craft specific wiring would be the unicorn info, but normally done to AYC stds for color codes, breaker sizes and wire sizes.

    Orange and pink wire

Wire certainly has 2 ends to it. Look under the dash to see if same colored wire is connected to a switch / piece of equipment or breaker. Then read what the breaker/switch is for. Problem solved.

    Popped through the intake.

Have seen coils get a "carbon track" on them blow the spark right out from under the boot.

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

Suggest getting the service manual for the drive that shows everything and explains how to service. Looks to be an Alpha gen2 out drive. I have the manual if you need it.

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

That cap thingie is the trim gauge sender. The hinge pin is under it, screwed into the bell housing (the part that is lifted)

Disconnect the rams from the drive at the outer end, That will separate the rams from the drive and eliminate the drive pivot pins as a possible source.. Does does sound like a bad ram (or maybe the bushings at the ram pivot points are super dry). They can be rebuilt, but are readily available...

    Quicksilver Alpha One Gen One

A picture would help. What "broke"? The controls aren't listed as an Alpha. They are the same for all models of sterndrives, Alpha (one and two), Bravo, etc. An 87 is pretty old and folks usually just update them instead of fixing them. I have the manual in PDF for the MerControls (all models)...

Anyone familiar with Hynautics Hydraulic Steering?

Never saw one before. Looks like a std seastar system with a handle that replaces the wheel, but has a 1/2 turn lock to lock ratio.
