Johnson 7,5 hp 2 stroke overheated

If the spark plug's orifices have small carbon built ups on them add some oil drops to the threaded nipple as shown in post 7 and screw it fully in till the rubber o'ring sits fully in. If the compression tests shows poor low PSI readings must tear the whole powerhead down to access both...

Please advise on first outboard purchase

Much better is to count with more HP and not need it than less and in need especially during an emergency, hard wind, rough water conditions. A 2 stroke 9.9 and a 15HP motor have the same CC powerheads and both motors weights exact same. Go for a 15 HP. Other well priced reliable motor : 2...

    Best Way to Clean Injectors.-

This motor has clocked 1.0 K run hours, the powerhead nor the injectors have ever been decarboned before, so the use of a preventive like which from the beginning doesn't apply any more. BTY, Injector Cleaners comes in plastic bottles, not cans.... Happy Boating

    Best Way to Clean Injectors.-

Don't live in the US, could send them to a local injector service facility, but don't want to go that route, it's a long demanding job removing them out especially on a large HP motor, that's why I asked. Happy Boating

Honda 150 performance issue on Hewescraft Searunner 190

Running a motor with a high load along pulling water toys adds a lot of stress to any motor, probably running at the lugging side. Without posting individual wot rpm data at both mentioned scenarios won't know. Check if the prop is doing its homework right, the hub could be on its was to become...

If you enlarge the small lower pic will see the astonishing large amount of salt, crap, filth whatever it's called already built there, now imagine what's going on on the entire OB internal water passages. Descalers are commercial grade ones used to clean machinery, water systems, boilers...

    Best Way to Clean Injectors.-

Was wondering if the injectors must be cleaned periodically as to spray, not squirt healthy inside each combustion chamber, if so is it safe to add a full bottle of car's inyector cleaners that treats 12-14 gallons on a 2 stroke EFI tank ? Happy Boating

Merc's External 2 Stroke Oil Tank.-

Yep, that tank has an internal water filter and a lower side drain valve, must the water colected there need to be drained periodically or the motor's system will alert so if capable doing so ? The fuel pump is housed there to be cooled with the internal water, right ? Happy Boating

You can bolt the tach near the throttle grip to check rpms more closely. If wanting to distribute more weight forward when solo boating can add a short tiller extender to help the Sib to plane faster.. Happy Boating

    Trailering a sib aft forward

In reality don't know if need to raise or lower the motor to accomplish for the water flow, water line to skim under the upper small plate, water tests will determine so. Run a wot water test and report at which lower leg's plate is the water flow passing once on plane at that current motor...

    Prop shopping

Yes, but without wot rpm data achieved as loaded that prop or new same one won't say much and remain as a starter prop. Whichever brand/model prop you choose must be unfailingly water tested... Happy Boating

    Salt Away?

Whatever that whitish substance it's called will screw your beloved motor the latter no matter if religiously flushed with fresh water after use. Motors having internal anodes will suffer severe salt clogs which will overheat that water passage yes or yes... Happy Boating

    Prop shopping

Need to check that out with a Prop Selector, fill all the required data, will dial a starter prop much better than the current screwed one which can't be tached at wot as loaded anymore. Happy Boating

    9.9 2 stroke ‘91 cooling issue

You need to flush any motor with an adequate flushing method for that given motor, if impossible to flush with muffs, use a deep barrel filled with sufficient water level or a flushing port with a hose adapter if having one... Happy Boating

    Cylinder Compression Incongruences.-

I'm plainly in agreement that those scenarios can and will happen, have installed a new thermo and now can hand feel the discharged water temp difference when the thermo opens and closes, down here the pseudo mechanics give a crap about re installing thermos on previous shot ones thinking...

2 Stroke Outboard Engine troubles low speed burp/thump.

Out of curiosity, how did you started the motor up after sitting for such long 10 years of storage ? That motor once carbs are fully clean should benefit going for a long decarbon process through the carb's throats with whatever decarbonizer brand is available, the motor will run much smoother...
