Is there a better gear oil pump out there?

I'll stick to the standard procedure, filling from the bottom. I wouldn't want to be low on lube due to trapped air.

    Tahoe 2150 battery dead

I had a similar situation happened to me. In my situation It was the stereo. There are two hot feeds on my stereo. One gets fed a switched (accessory) hot feed and one stays constantly hot to hold the time and all the presets. The constant hot one was the culprit that kept killing my battery...

Need help on changing every wire on my sterdrive engine

Agree. Make sure this thing is running and worth it, no major leaks, transom is OK, floor not spongy, etc. before you throw any money at rewiring it. You can't just use automotive or house wiring either. Marine wiring is tinned throughout it's entirety. Don't make patches in the harnesses...

    Got a free boat!

Could they really be that backward? So far behind in technology? With it's huge economy, you would think otherwise. Even Pennsylvania has all that stuff available online. I would figure Cali would be way ahead of us. Your State used to be the pioneer when it came to a lot if things. I...

Possibly ran without oil. What to check?

As suggested, some of the new oils are not really that colorful. I was filling my leaf blower and the fuel also looked too clear, but I knew it was a mixture. It doesn't sound like it seized, so mix up some new fuel/oil, just to play it safe and try it out.

4.3 blows 15a fuse when you throttle up

And for safety sake and to be more specific, the fuse protects the wiring from burning up. The fuse is rated for the gauge of wire it protects. That is the purpose of the fuse. The wire size is rated for amount of amperage the load will draw and the fuse is rated to protect that specific...

    Boat submarining question

Was that supposed to be one of those blonde jokes? Ha! Sometimes I get into my boat and go for the gas pedal! After a second, I realize I'm in the boat, not my truck and the throttle is not down there! Duh! Pure habit, but funny!

    Wheel bearings full of water

Get rid of those caps and replace them with one of the bearing buddy type greasable covers. I would do what dingbat said. Measure the sealing surface and make sure you buy the proper seals. There are seals behind the hub too, in the back, if you didn't know that.

Losing Power - After two hours

At first I was going to ask if you changed the hub also when you changed the prop. But the low Rpm's, I think ruled that out...I think.... It's not a bad idea to check it though. Mark the hub and see if it moves after a good run. If not, fuel or spark, maybe... As stated, do a full tune-up...

Claims its a cracked engine block

I would first determine if there is in fact a crack in the block. There's no telling what they did when they took possession if the boat. They could have beat the heck out of it in their inexperienced excitement. It sounds like they are amateurs. They could have done a number of...

Need help!!!! 4.3 mercruiser just clicking

I would think if it's clicking then it's getting power, but just not enough voltage to fully crank the engine. Maybe your battery seems to test good, but under a load the voltage drops significantly. You can have it load tested at most auto parts stores. Or, maybe you have a corroded...

Need help!!!! 4.3 mercruiser just clicking

Clean all connections bright and shiny and check condition of battery cables. Clicking like that makes me think you're not getting the proper voltage to the starter. Are you positive your battery is good?

Claims its a cracked engine block

So, the perspective buyers went on an hour test ride and they didn't take a good look at the engine afterwards? Did they at least look it over before and during the ride? If not, they don't sound too knowledgeable. (I'm being kind) How are people like that going to safely pilot a boat...

Claims its a cracked engine block

I'd like to follow this. I'm no expert, but I think you would have noticed something during the hour test ride. Was the engine viewed during and after the test ride? I would think if they were satisfied with the test ride and agreed to buy the boat after that, you should be in the clear...

    confused and frustrated

Use your cellphone camera to reach around the engine to take pictures. Hopefully you'll find the casting number that way. Why are you thinking of rebuilding the engine? Does it have a problem?
