Spark Plug blew out of engine...ever seen it?

Not boat engines, but those Ford Triton engines threw spark plugs left and right. Ford wouldn't make good for it either. It was a common problem. Someone I knew had a Ford E250 van and one shot out. The plug was laying on the intake manifold and parts of the coil pack were strewn about...

    Braid Knots

Seems I recall a tube knot from my fly fishing days. You made it using a short tube like from a (hollow) plastic q-tip. It could also be made using a nail.

    1st Boat/First Thread/First Everything lol. Need help

What strikes me is that most of those people aren't wearing life vests. Even the ones that are getting swamped and nearly sinking. That area looks really rough. I'd be sure my passengers are wearing vests. But, it doesn't surprise me. People like that are why I don't go boating on the weekends.

    NEW Transom seal BAD!!!

That's totally unacceptable. They should have expiration dates on anything that critical and made of rubber. And who knows how long it was sitting on a shelf and in what environmental conditions. It was the luck of the draw for you. Unfortunately it wasn't good for you. 😞

    Mercrusier Steering "S" Turns

That's why bow mounted trolling motors are better than transom mounted. To pull the boat for better control, instead of pushing the boat from the stern which causes the V-shaped bow to wander. At least that's what I thought.

    Mercrusier Steering "S" Turns

Don't V-hull outboards wander at low speeds too? Isn't it the V-shape that causes it? Or no?

    Strange starter issue.

So, you're good? If so, that's great!

    Strange starter issue.

It sure sounds like there's serious resistance somewhere since the battery is new and it only happens under engine compression. You cleaned all contacts? Disconnected every single one and cleaned shiny like new? Even the negative connection on the engine block? How do the battery cables...

    dual battery

I have a Blue Sea ACR (Automatic Charging Relay). It automatically charges whichever battery that may need it. It's ahead of my battery selector switch, so regardless of the position of the switch, it still monitors and keeps each battery charged (as long as the engine is running). I have two...

Surge Brake partial rebuild, brake away level doesn’t work?

Hopefully the experts will chime in. You already spent time and money so you're committed. I hope you get it figured out. I ditched my surge brakes for electric. My master cylinder was also rusty, plus I couldn't stand all that banging noise every time I hit the brakes or took off from a...

    dual battery

Agree. Don't combine both batteries under normal circumstances. Keep one for starting and one for when you're anchored and using accessories. You only need to combine them if both are discharged and either one won't crank the engine alone.

    Trailer Tires

I switched to radials a few years back. What a difference from biased. The boat immediately felt like it was riding on cushions with the radials. Less bouncing, smoother ride, very noticeable. I'd never go back to biased. 18 foot bow rider.

    Torsion axle question

That's strange. Why would a manufacturer produce something like that? I don't know much about axles, but could it have been installed upside down? Is that even possible? Is the other side flat?

Charging Issue - three battery system

Glad you got it figured out! Now go boating!

    Boat and trailer length

You brought up the fact that the shocks are rusted out, then brought up the fact that you didn't trust the brakes. The tow vehicle's condition and ability are part of your launching problem. Your disregard for safety is evident and appalling. And what about the safety of others at the ramp...

New wheels and tires for my 06 GT Stang, finally :)

Nice! Later in my fifties I did up a '69 notch back mustang. Too many goodies to list. It was fun. Sold it, made a significant profit and moved on to the next hobby, a boat!

    Boat and trailer length

I assume you meant standing behind the truck, not the boat. If you were standing behind the boat, you'd be in the water! Shove a wheel chock under your tire. I even do that with my new truck. I've seen too many boat ramp fails on You Tube! I carry a homemade chock. I had a 4x4 block that I...

No water out transom or exhaust

Interesting. I thought I remember reading somewhere to be careful that it was install in the right direction. I thought I'd suggest that because sometimes the simple answers are not thought of... I stand corrected.
