    Simplest 2 Battery Setup?

Proper crimping and tinned marine spec wiring are neccessary. Plus, proper gauge wires and correct type and size fuses in marine type fuse holders are also a must. I use Copper Shield on my connections. It's a bit messy, so all you need is a thin coating. Clean them bright and shiny and a dab...

    Simplest 2 Battery Setup?

I have the Blue Sea ACR, and yes, it's pretty much install it and forget it. It does the job of keeping both batteries charged. But, it's not that simple to install. The OP said he wasn't that technically inclined when it came to electrical hookups, so if someone can install it for him, that...

    Universal cover over factory cover

I have a decent cover over my stock mooring covers. It's made by Classic Accessories and cost me $164 on Amazon. I reccomend it. It has weared well. They have different sizes, so the fit is really great. So don't just get a $100 "universal" one. Get one that fits for $60-$70 more, it's well...

    Not enough brain cells

I just thought of something funny. Imagine those same guys retrieving that boat with that forklift. Now that would be a sight. I'd pay to see that!

Options for towing boat w a non tilt/trim small outboard (25 hp)?

Interesting, I'll follow along to see what suggestions are put forth. I assume that block of wood needs to be secured somehow from falling out during transport. Is there a way you could just tilt the motor and tie it off to something in the boat? Or, just remove the motor and lay it in...

    Going electric vs marinas

I really don't think most fisherman will take to that compromise. There are favorite spots that they will not be willing to give up. It's definitely catch fish with your current gas/diesel or maybe catch with an electric setup.

    Not enough brain cells

I've come to the conclusion that as a society, we've raised a generation of idiots. Is it something in the food or drinking water or the failure of the educational systems? Or maybe the parents fault?

Looking to add a drain plug to a jon boat

I thought all jon boats and row boats had drain plugs! Tells you what I know! Instead of allowing water to collect in the boat, maybe get a good cover. Water collecting in the boat, even with a drain hole is not a good idea. It's got to be bad for the boat, even if it's aluminum. I'm sure...

    Trailer Tires

I totally agree. World of difference. I went from bias to radial and what a silky smooth ride. With the biased it bounced hard. The radials are like riding on a cushion. I will never go back. My boat is at least 3,000 pounds, maybe a bit more.

Is an aluminum steel prop better than stainless?

Stainless props are more ridgid, less flexible, better performance and much stronger than aluminum. But...if you hit something with a stainless prop, you may damage internals since the prop is so sturdy. In a way, the aluminum prop is sacrificial in that it will take the damage instead of...

    Going electric vs marinas

At this time, I think you can carry more gas/diesel than banks of batteries. Until they can increase the range that batteries will give you in comparison to conventional fuels, it doesn't seem feasible. I think it's just not there yet. Just my opinion. I'm not an engineer.

    Going electric vs marinas

Seems like a serious safety issue if you run out of battery power. You would be stranded and let's not forget what would happen in high seas with no power. You'd easily get swamp. You would need a gas or diesel engine to supplement that electric motor and a kicker may not be enough to fight the...

    Going electric vs marinas

I remember Jacque Cousteau's turbo-sail boat. I was working at pier 17 in manhattan many years ago and that boat along with the Calipso had docked at the next pier. It was a celebration for Jacque's birthday. It was probably the early 80's. I think he was 72. Anyway, the boat had two towers...

    Going electric vs marinas

Just get a sailboat.... Electricity for charging cars/boats doesn't magically come out of thin air. Some of those young ignorant people just don't realize this. Plus producing and disposal of those batteries is hazardous.

    Smallest Outboard Motor

I had a Cox engine from the early 60's. It was from a bi-plane that had a string. You just stood there turning round and round. No remote. The string was the remote! I was about 5 years old. Me and my Dad crashed it. I don't know what happened to the trashed plane, but I had that engine with my...

    Smallest Outboard Motor

Wow! So it's less than 5 inches high! Kind of reminds me of the old Cox model airplane engines, only it's for a boat. Very cool!

New Long Block, Cranks and Won't Start

This might be a stupid question, but if you have a lanyard safety switch at your helm, did you check that? Your description sounds like what I experienced once when someone accidentally tripped it while we were anchored out. It cranked and sounded like it almost wanted to start.

    12V Power on/off

My 2016 Chevy Colorado had two fuse positions for the 12 volt power outlet. One for constant power and the other for off when truck was off. You just move the fuse to whichever one you want. Maybe the Ram has that too? Maybe check the fuse directory. You might want to join a Ram forum for...
