Adding Third Toon to 24' Pontoon

OK, quick side track- EAA's magazine, Feb. 2000 I think. Interviewed by a guy I revered at Oshkosh (Bud Davison). I had already read nearly every word he had written. When he walked up to me and asked if I had a minute, just a few minutes after tying the plane down after arriving, I thought I...

    Paddle Boat

I rebuilt an alum. pedal boat a few years ago. I'm thinking it was this company that gave me a big hand, was great to work with.... https://www.paddleking.com/

    2006 Polar Kraft 182 FF

Look just to the rear of that flat panel. See if there isn't access to the bilge there.

Adding Third Toon to 24' Pontoon

Wondering about the tube construction. Do they seal to the ply floor to form the top, or is there an alum. cap that forms the top? How hard would it be to get that foam out of there? Will a new ply. deck be part of this project? With that deck removed, access to the cross members and such is...

    Opposite steering Ski Sanger

This is an inboard, right? It has a rudder shaft that comes up from the bottom? If someone reassembled the steering mechanism incorrectly while replacing a steering cable for instance, and switched stuff around back there, that might be the sorce of your problem. In any case, anyone skilled in...

    Pontoon in the snow

Yup, figured as much. We have a pretty good bunch here. Still, I don't mind admitting it when I screw up.....

    2006 Polar Kraft 182 FF

This is an aluminum boat, right? USUALLY, the area just ahead of the transom is able to be opened up pretty easily so you can get a pretty clear idea what each of those 3 openings do.

Adding Third Toon to 24' Pontoon

Yup, I was looking at that water line as well. Not good.... Hate to be Debby Downer, but in my experience, since the recent popularity of the 4 stroke outboards, the number of IO installs, especially those installed in pontoon boats, have taken a huge nose dive. They're heavy, and can be very...

    Raising motor on transom

We all know props are compromises. The 4 blade is about blade area, which is about low and mid range power/torque, with the downside being related to making that extra blade area go fast. I would bet that a 19" 3 blade will go a bit faster than your 17" (but nothing spectacular), the downside...

    Pontoon in the snow

Clearly I need to get a better handle on my seasons! I'm sure most of you figured out I ws talking Labor Day in the earlier note. For those that didn't figure that out, sorry for any confusion....

Honda 50 hp stull when passing from R to N

That's complete B.S. Wishful thinking on the part of the dealer. Ebay often has the OEM Honda manuals listed for about half what Honda gets for them. A page or 2 might have a greasy finger print, or it might be brand new still wrapped in plastic.

    Honda Idle Problem

My suggestion would be to clean the carb, again. This time, note the tiny holes in the carb bore very near the throttle plate. These supply the fuel to the motor when the engine is idling. For some reason, they are not getting fuel. Figure out why and you'll have the answer to your headache...

    pontoon

Might be time to get back in the water and have a look at the fasteners that hold the engine pod to the cross members, as well as the cross members themselves. Failures of either are not unheard of! Have you recently relocated anything to the rear of the boat? Probably goes without saying...

    pontoon

Frequently, that kind of thing happens when the motor is mounted too low on the transom. Sorry, but without pictures that's about all the help I can provide.

    Bearing Buddys falling off

A buddy had that problem and traced it to an outer bearing that was trying to smoke on him. Might be a good idea to have a look at your bearings.

    Good Source for Trailer Axles?

I've been using Dexter axles for just about forever. Never had a reason to change. That's not a terrible price though.

    Vinyl trim graphics

I had replaced the skin on both sides as the originals had been beat to death by docks, bumpers, and 25 years of abuse. I just had an entire set done for an old Grumman deck boat I'm restoring. I started at a graphics shop that does custom work, but they're more interested in commercial or...
