    Cooling System Generic Info

Finally had a chance to look at my outdrive as well as a honda 50. On the water intakes, both of them have plastic grates with a bunch of tiny scoops. I guess that's how it works. I am wondering as others suggested pressure differential comes in to play as well.

    Holt oil extractor

As dubs283 said no need to put the hose down the dipstick tube for the boat. Put the hose on the end of the dipstick tube. Sometime you can use a garden hose adapter that threads onto the dipstick tube.

    Cooling System Generic Info

I thought maybe Atmospheric Pressure as well or the water was forced in through the intake. I'll have to look at the intake on my mercruiser but on one of the honda kickers it doesn't really look like water would be forced in.

Should I replace my surge brakes with electric on my boat trailer?

If you tow with multiple vehicles like I do then surge brakes might be an advantage as no controller's are needed. Also, some jurisdictions require a break away system. With electric brakes that means a battery on the trailer.

Replacing my brake lines with rubber lines

Self tapping screws will work but you will probably have to drill a pilot hole first. I usually tap the frame for 10-32 machine screws.

From the picture you should be able to tell which fuse goes where by the size of the internal fuse wire.

    bad interuptor switch

If you removed the leads attached to the switch that would eliminate the switch as the problem. Easy enough to check with a continuity tester to see if the switch works or not.

    Altrenator bolts

You sure can. As long as they are the right size, grade and material. If you have a place that specializes in fasteners their quality and selection might be better.
