    Suzuki wire meanings. Please help

If your aftermarket ignition switch has spade terminals, then all you need to know is the engine harness wire colors and what they are. The switch will have: two "M" terminals (magneto). These two terminals kill the engine when the key is off as the ignition is grounded. "A" = accessory...

    Reverse polarity

That means you need to check each receptacle for reversed polarity. It would also be wise to check the shorepower, the power cord connectors and the wiring at the entrance and service panel for proper wiring.

    Electrical re-wire

Jump the starter to eliminate the solenoid and relays. If you don't know how to do that Google is your friend as is U-Tube. Troubleshoot, troubleshoot, troubleshoot, then replace parts. Don't just replace parts hoping to get lucky,

    Westerbeke generator

Is there a temperature gauge for the generator - is it working - and is the engine temperature normal? Running and then quiting after a few minutes is a sign of overheat shutdown, low oil shutdown, or lack of fuel. Disconnecting the fuel shutoff will shut the fuel off the fuel solenoid -...

    Electrical question

Measure the voltage with the radio connected. Folks often feel that 12 volts is 12 volts but find that it is far less or even zero when a load is applied. The problem apparently is not with the radio but with the 12 volt feed you are trying to use to power the radio. Check the ground...

Are wheel locks the way to go?

Some years back a buddy had a snowmobile trailer and two sleds stollen. The trailer has wheel locks, coupler lock and the entire rig was chained to a light pole. The police followed the tire marks over half a mile to an alley where the sleds were cut loose, loaded to another trailer and...

    Engine not responding

Step #1 would be to ensure the shift mechanism is engaging the neutral start switch. If it isn't in neutral the engine will not crank.

1991 Tracker Pro Deep V 17 ignition issues

Yes - you likely installed it incorrectly. No pictures or description of what the configuration is now leaves us with nothing to go on. Remember, we can't see what you did. But -- the switch is labeled with letters and will appear something like this: "B" = 12 volts from the engine harness...

Water temp sensor for 88 60hp 2 stroke Merc.

The original was not a water temperature sensor if it was fed with a tube. That would be a "water pressure" gauge. If the new water temperature gauge scale begins at 160 degrees or so the needle will never move unless of course the engine actually does overheat.

    Spindle pitting or discoloration?

The seal area looks like it has a groove in it so speedi-sleeve or spindle'axle replacement is the long-term fix.

Merc 5.7, alpha 1 gen2, Rochester marine 4bbl flood gushing up out of bowl/float vent!?!

Rochester 2bbl carbs would spit fuel in the same manner when the check ball at the bottom of the accelerator pump cavity was not seen during rebuild and then not installed. Not all carbs had them though.

    What could possibly go wrong!!

I was looking through some pictures today and stumbled onto this one. While this person was towing a camper, I've seen equally insane "overloads" involving boats. I posted this picture 8 years ago but thought it would be a good reminder as to how not to treat others on the road with wreckless...

    Leaking Fuel Sender

If the fuel leak is around the center fuel sender elecrical stud, be careful tightening that nut If the stud itself spins you can short the sender resistor stip inside the tank and now have an inoperable sender. Do this correctly. Remove the sender from the tank. Inspect the area of the leak...

    Wiring a fish finder

No need for separate battery for the fish finder. It would run all day without impacting the starting battery unless the starting battery itself is undersized or just tired. Now forgetting to unplug the fish finder and leaving the boat unattended for a week or so would indeed leave you with a...

    How to install auxilliary tach

Even a non-matching tach is a very simple install and as cheap or cheaper than some thing you are going to hang in the engine bay and not be able to see. The wire you are looking for is on the "S" terminal at the back of the tach. You are making a simple task a potential problem. Tachs are...

    wiring help please

The ground wire on the switch is NOT to be used as a ground for any accessories. It is merely a ground for the internal light in the switch and the only thing it should be attached to or attached to it is the negative side of the battery.. As for the tach wire, you need to remember that the...

    New prop still ventilating

I take it this is a pontoon and if so, you really should have a "Big Foot" motor which has better gearing and can swing a much meatier prop. Your current gear case has 1.83:1 ratio whereas the Big Foot would have 2.33:1. 14x9 props were the general prop for those engines in pontoon service.

    wiring help please

Your pictures are not much help. Think about splicing and mixing wire colors on the same circuit. We can't see either end of this nest so you need to locate the wiring diagram for your specific engine (year & HP). The other end (the console end) is not done by the engine manfuacturer but by...
