    What is this hose?

Throw out your anchor in a stream with a 6 mph (or any speed current). Look at your pitot speedometer and it will show what the current is -- not your speed because you are not moving. Now break out your GPS and it will show zero mph as it should. Underway if your gps shows you are going 20...

    Mercury outboard 2 stroke

All of those procedures need to be done in a specific order. Screw one up and you start over. Those procedures are far too complicated and wordy to expect someone to type here.

    Won’t start when warm

Maybe a leaky fuel injector that is causing a flooding condition. Check the dipstick and smell it. If it smells like gasoline and/or is over the full mark do not run the engine until the oil is changed and the problem corrected. Oil is not a good lubricant.

    help with iffy gas?

It is so refeshing to see on this forum that ethanol is still being blamed for every engine problem as it has been for the last 20 years. Ethanol is the best darned fuel system cleaning you can use and no, it doesn't turn to varnish in 30 days. Adding fresh fuel makes old gas less old and...

    trailer wants

Adding an axle, two more wheels & tires, springs and hardware isn't going to make it any lighter. What are you pulling this rig with? You may want to spend the money on the tow vehicle if the rig seems to much of a load. Unless you have access to a welder, grinder and a good assortment of...

    Oil light blinking

Oil pressure issue can trigger the light. Is this a very high hour motor where internal wear may cause low oil pressure? A malfunctioning oil pressure sender may be the issue as well. Rough water where the oil pickup is momentarily not able to pickup oil. Oil temperatures getting to high...

    Propeller

There are lots of prop calculators on-line but those are a "get in the ball park" tools. Unless you have a tachometer you will never know if any given prop is right. The right prop is one that allows the engine to rev at it recommended wide open throttle rpm with an average load. Average load...

    1-1/16" trailer axle spacer?

Sleeves are the least expensive and you can do it. Replacing the axle is also something you can do but you need to be careful what you buy. An axle is not just an axles. Spindle size, spring seat width, axle capacity are all considerations. Spindle size is typically 1-1/16 for that axle...

    Propeller

Replacement props do not need to come from the engine manufacturer and probably didn't when the engne was new. There are aftermarket manufacturers and almost certainly have what you need. Like right here on IBOATS. The number you found is not a serial number -- it is the manufacturers part...

    1-1/16" trailer axle spacer?

Initially thought it was the inner bearing race but upon closer look, appears its the area where the inner grease seal rides. It is also severely worn and a new seal will never keep out water or grease IN the bearing. You have three choices. 1) replace the axle, 2) add a sleeve kit and...

Boat hit 200 degrees engine temp

start with the cheap/easy stuff first. Remove thermostat and check it's rating temp (160, 180, etc). Then drop it into hot water above the opening temp and see if it opens. Suspend the stat in the water, don't let it lay on bottom of the pan. If the stat doesn't open, replace it. Splash the...

    New boater- help needed

Spend some time walking around the boat looking very carefully for water inlet and outlet ports for the livewell system. Check the plumbing for those systems as well as the bilge pump outlet. A problem in any of those lines can result in water in the boat. Check the transom for rot and pay...

    Expected speed from Minn Kota

I've owned boats in the 16 - 17 ft range that were much heavier than yours and were fitted with the same motor. The river we fished required trolling speeds of 2.8 - 2.9 mph and that combo worked great for that even against the current. My 18 ft pontoon trolled very well with the same motor.

    Phone chargers

The device being connected to the charger determines how much current is needed. A 2000 mAh charger will not damage a device that requires only 1000 mAh to fully charge. Just like your 12 volt battery chargers. The battery determines how much current will be drawn from the charger.

50 hp OMC triple vibration at lower rpm

If it runs fine after "clearing itself out" that suggest your carb rebuilding process was done wrong or the idle mixture screws have not been properly set.

Bow Thruster with terminal fuse blown

Mathematics blew the 80 amp fuse (P=E x I (power = voltage x current). 2200 watts (2.2kw) divided by 24 volts = 91+ amps (possibly more at initial starting load). The 200 amp breaker on one battery didn't blow because it was big enough (perhaps too big for the wire size. Doing that causes the...

Do you use non ethanol gas ?

So Bob Vila has become an expert on gasoline engines and fuel formulation? Up here in the tundra (Minnesota) we've been using E10 for decades. I had one incident with it and that was in a 1985 Chrysler New Yorker. The coating on the inside of the carb was turned to a baking powder like...
