    bad as in what? ... motor dead ? not pumping IF the dealer is honest ...just the pump can be replaced you can purchase it and replace it if your are handy with these things. if you have ETEC you should get EV diagnostics.. the EMM can tell you certain trbl codes related to things...

    Deep cylcle trolling/starting batteries never gave me any problems for 20 years of use on my 75hp ETEC but I have now gone with marine STARTING battery rated 1000 CCA. .. grp24 works fine :-)
