    Can’t Figure out Prop ….

All these comparisons without knowing what gear ratios might be in the outdrive are useless. Who knows if the OPs was swapped out or if his boat is waterlogged with 80 psi for compression numbers . As mentioned OP needs his RPMs # with appropriate load before anyone should be making...

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Don't buy the " marine " oil , nothing but snake oil sales pitch . Gears are gears and any 90 Wt will work, probably comes from the same refinery , assembly line as the " Mercruiser " oil to begin with.

Buying an '03 Sea Ray Sundeck 220

I would be hesitant to not bother with muffs and run it dry . Not sure if you have a heat exchanger or where your impeller is located . Not fun to find all the remnants of the impeller jammed into who knows where . Or what that does to the impeller housing ,base plate . As noted above , main...

    Insurance for older boats

If you have it surveyed, make sure it's done by a accredited person . I believe there are two different ones they will accept. SAMS comes to mind , can't remember the other one .Most insurance companies require that .

    Crosby Sled identification

Serial number is not the same as a HIN , so the last 2 digits have no bearing on the year it was built. What does the paperwork say ?

2002 191 Starcraft Islander Stiff Throttle

Doesn't hurt to disconnect the cables from the engine to verify it's the cable . When you get the controller off , again isolate the cables to make sure you're not replacing the wrong item .

    Unknown toggle switch

Highly unlikely that anyone can identify it . You are going to have to trace the wires , or turn it on and listen for something running . Might be lights , bilge pump or added for some accessory that the previous owner took out . It is a two or three way switch ?

Nutsbgone. Seriously open everything up , clean up anything laying around that they make a nest put of . No products are made for keeping squirrels out of your boat .

What is this sailboat part called

Mast Raiser ,,,,,,, talked to a few sailors, they never saw anything like that . Top ( maybe ) slotted part goes into a channel that secures it . Worm gear goes into the base of the mast . When you turn the flanged part it would raise or lower the mast depending on its intial position. That's my...

    Sportcraft Li'l Sport, worth restoring?

Might be worth a grand with the motor and trailer . Sell as is , not worth restoring , will cost you more to do that and if done , it's still only worth a grand in today's market .

1991 Chris Craft Concept 167 staring issue

" never damage the prop " uhhh no , raising the outdrive guarantee's nothing . If it's that shallow you should be pulling the boat by hand .I stand by my statement, the gauge is useless and not worth fixing .

1991 Chris Craft Concept 167 staring issue

Trim gauge is just another bell and whistle you don't need . Adjust trim by the seat of your pants . Somewhat down position when you take off ,once on a plane you trim up until the bow feels light or your RPMs jump up real quick , drop it a hair at that point. Usually in tougher water you start...
