trailer makes banging noise when stop & starting

I never had the noise until I got 2 swing tongue trailers. I bought some rubber gasket material and cut pieces so that when the tongue was attached, it was tight. Problem solved.

is this a cooler design or a livewell?

The condition of that boat is atrocious. If you haven't bought it yet, run away fast. Anyone that left a boat in that condition must have left the engine in similar condition. If you DID buy it, hire a good mechanic. You will need it.

    Boat Disposal

I toured boat manufacturing plants back in the 1960's, and again in 2006. The former was a home town guy, and the latter was a current major manufacturer. In both cases I noted good ventilation and all the workers were wearing dust masks, gloves and "normal" PPE for the time period. I saw no...

    Boat Disposal

I was in the asbestos industry for about 5 years, and the glass fiber industry for about 10 years. We followed the "rules" that were the accepted guidelines of the day. My coworkers had been in the industry for 30 years. All my buddies retired at 65, and ALL died in their 70's with lung...

    Boat Disposal

In the olden days boats were built with strand fiberglass and chopper guns. The fibers were immediately mixed with resin and shot into the mold. The possibility of airborne fibers was not impossible, but not likely. Today, most boats are built with woven glass mats, thus not really a problem...

is this a cooler design or a livewell?

It's a cooler. The drain is plugged and needs some maintenance. The condition of everything in the pic shows the PO did a poor job of taking care of the boat. (sad to look at the pics) It can't be a live well because it is too far away form the infrastructure that would be need to be added.

    Boat Disposal

I was in the industry some years ago. When the asbestos lawsuits peaked and the lawyers were chomping on the bit, once the billion dollar settlements were in the bag and they knew it would come to a close, they all said Fiberglass is their next target.

    Biggest problem with boating?

I bought a tinny with a 9.5 HP outboard. It was small, but it was big enough to enjoy vacations with 2 fat adults and 2 pre-teenage boys. I paid $600. The motor had just been reconditioned with a tune up, impeller, etc. I rebuilt the trailer and painted it with rustoleum for another 100...

    Snap in flooring material

It's a heavy dense solid core foam that is the same thickness as the SeaDek. Completely waterproof. This stuff is awesome, but don't buy it if you bring dogs in the boat.

    Cut away....

I collect antique and classic outboards. This could be the centerpiece of my collection. Never saw one for sale before. If you get it (for cheap), I'll gladly pay you double for it. (PS - that is not a solicitation or an offer that may violate rules. Just my comment)

    Boat Disposal

FG fibers require a full respirator. Nasty stuff. Don't come back in 30 years and cry you have lung cancer. The simple answer is to pay to take it to the dump. The motor cannot possibly be worth all the trouble. This is a hassle if there ever was one. Seems to me that all the trouble would...

    Biggest problem with boating?

The ONLY problem is finding the time AND having the weather cooperate. We only go out when all the other idiots are home reading facebook. Thus we have many opportunities, but all too often there are gale force winds or its raining.

    Snap in flooring material

You can buy it and glue it in, or have it on a backer and snap it in. It is available either way. My SeaRay has it glued on the swim platform and snap in thru the entire cockpit. Cool in the sun and soft on the feet. Best boat decking I ever had. (Sorry I got it crooked)

    Snap in flooring material

Replace it with SeaDek. You won't be sorry.

    vinyl and foam padding

Why would you install foam padding and marine vinyl to a boat trailer? Never saw one like that. Makes no sense. Maybe pictures are in order.

    Evinrude fuel fitting

The 2-prong fitting has been in use for eons. Parts available galore. Male and female. Why change to an oddity?

    Should I be worried

The OP has not been back. Did he heed the sage's advice or did he buy the boat anyway and is embarrassed? Or, simply moved on. When ever I post a thread I always followup, regardless. But, that's just me.

    Boat not planing

The rating makes no sense. I google the boat and found a company that rented them. The rentals had 25 HP motors. I know that in my area the rentals are under powered so their customers can't easily kill themselves. More to it here than meets they eye. Likely that foreign standards are...

    Should I be worried

No kidding. The trailer is too short. The specs list weight and length. Look up the specs. They have not been posted here yet. Whoever put that rig together did the owner a bad service.
