    yes old style coils and all... if never done coils could be totally cracked up to !! since this is the old magneto style you may want to download this book which covers all maintenance aspects for these oldys. the book won't cover you exact 1971model but will supply all needed info...

    you may want to pull that rubber connector apart and check for corrosion clean all contacts .... lubricate with light oil spray. clean all battery posts and connections charge up the battery

    these Dollar store seringe make good grease guns for touch ups and hard to reach places. just file the tip square and done !

    the mercury switch is just a glob of floating mercury in a bottle which closes 2 contacts to let the ground pass to operate the solenoid if... the engine is not tilted up or in gear on diff. engines mdl. just short the 2 wires (if 2 wires) as a qwick test or measure the ground ohms...

    mdl#| year ? see diag. from max-rules.com 35hp solenoid MUST be grounded via the mercury switch and cut out switch.. B+ must reach the solenoid control post to kick in ... just follow the wires with a VOM test solenoid coil ohms between small control porst and grd post...

    Scraped bottom

    I have seen and had..... a lot worse. file the prop equally as possible and use it as a spare . you need two anyway and a wrench in the tool box check for any new.. stange vibrations if none you are probably OK always keep unlocked cruising...... locked up for travel...

    loosen the cam bolts ... the correct procedure to aligning the roller on the cam at the point where the throttle plate just begins to move

    any chance if was... for a water pressure feed to a speedometer ? in any event... hows the engine performing overall any problems whith heat ?? if no problems don't fix it

    not a 50 but likely similar.. see yellow-black and black on key switch (Ms) used to kill the motor when OFF you need2 things ... in OFF both M posts must show 0 ohms (dead short) between themselves ! secondly Y_Black must reach the engine side of the fat connector if you have...

    Primer bulb does get real hard. could be carb issue or bad hose pump valve.. normally one can feel the pump getting stiff when the carb floats closes up on a full carb.
