    these 4hp do run hot ....so what is HOT ?? the exhaust cover is NOT water cooled like bigger HP models and they frequently become discolored. measure the engine PH with a IR heat gun to detect any true HOT spots

    maybe I am wrong but I do not think you need so much sealer on the impeller housing and in any case where would air enter the pump if it is under water ?? these are as simple as they get engine wise.

    millions were made and still run perfectly. nothing realy wrong with the design. if colling flow is a problem on your 4hp then there is blockage somewhere and needs to be found. pull the PH if you have to and flush all passages with a cleaning agent...or just soak passages with hot...

    and fuel pick-up filters etc...including deteriorated fuel hoses ..a high pressure test and lift pump pressuretest will determine if fuel makes it to the VST properly then the injectors then it becomes a . question of proper injector operation if not crudded up , ignition control by the EMM.

    EMM does not see everything it only senses things like current flow to some parts, sensor outputs etc... it does not see cracked coils dirty injectors bad fuel flows poor injector pressure etc... having no codes just eliminates a lot of things to check out. before swapping...

    close to 37,000 feedbacks should not be ignored very odd....did you or not try another compression meter or pull the head to look inside. gaskets are cheap and you have no other options. btw ... "Hello have a 1984 Johnson 150 V6" is this a new to you engine ?? with untested...
